THAI Airways is considering flying to Brussels daily instead of the current four times a week.

According to a spokesman, the flight frequency can be increased when there is peace and stability in Thailand again.

Thai currently flies to Brussels on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Belgian capital is an important hub in Europe for Thailand's national airline.

Businessmen from Thailand benefit from this connection when they wish to fly to the European Union. Tourists from Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and France who want to visit Thailand also benefit from a daily flight, the airline says.

Since November 2011, THAI is the only Southeast Asian airline flying non-stop to Brussels, a gateway to many destinations. The cooperation agreement with Brussels Airlines via Star Alliance makes this connection all the more important for THAI.

I do not assume that Brussels will be a great success for Thai Airways. Sticky businessmen from the east would have flown long ago via Frankfurt, for example. Their service is now so bad that they no longer appear in the top 20 ranking. They are also much more expensive than, for example, Emirates or Ethiad, which fly to Bangkok with an open jaw for € 491. €381. However, with Ethiad the restriction is 1 month. But for the businessman are 4 weeks more than enough? With emirates you can stay in Thailand for that price for up to 5 months, even over the Christmas days - with the exception of flying on these days. The train connections between Düsseldorf and Frankfurt airport with Brussels are fantasties and start every hour. At some step-overs, for example in Dubai, the waiting time has been reduced to less than 2 hours.

Like, fairly regularly. As a Thai Airways passenger, I think it is a good idea to have daily flights to Brussels. However, as tlb-ik quite rightly points out, their price has become too high compared to others. The permitted weight of luggage is also really minimal. Their service has also declined in recent years, the food takes a long time to arrive, and clearing can take more than an hour. I do not want to blame this on the people of the third gender who are in charge, but they are extremely slowly. Due to minor physical discomfort, it is easier for me to travel without transfer, but I am still considering changing companies.
Hopefully, beyond their flight frequency, they will also change their price, service and baggage restrictions.

It depends on your budget and your age, but give me (as a Belgian), boarding neatly close to home, a sleeping pill if necessary and waking up fresh in Bangkok and back the same. Rather than searching for the best price, than dragging yourself to Amsterdam or Dusseldorf and getting bored (in the middle of the night) for a few hours in some airport on the way. Thai may not be what it used to be but it is still a good society.

After three flights with Thai from Brussels, I am more than average satisfied. All flights were punctual, or slightly earlier on arrival. Easy from Brussels, directly. And a touch of Thai atmosphere on board. Yes, that also means that everything is a bit slower with the operation.

More and more Belgians have discovered Thailand. So there is more flying. I think Thai has understood that there is growth potential, mainly among tourists (and much less among business people).

Of the three flights I flew, 1 was cheap, 1 average and 1 expensive. With more flights, the price will probably drop, also under pressure from neighboring competition.

In the last 2 years I flew with thaiairways from Brussels to bangkok about 10 times, never had any problems, and always very good service at the check-in desk, and on the plane.
But whether they would consider doing this on a daily basis, Zoë I dare not think. Well hope…
But from most of the flights I did in recent years, I had to conclude that there was almost always a weak crew in the aircraft. I often got 3 seats for myself alone, and I only flew 1 x in which we sat on 2 seats with 3 people.
So they now had to increase their frequency to daily flights, I wonder about the financial possibilities for that.
Anyway, hopefully it will continue, and I, and you, can enjoy this super society for a long time to come.
    Ps
This Saturday I'm flying with Thai from Brussels to Bangkok again 🙂 🙂

      Dear Jean,
As a fairly regular Thai Airways user, and without any doubt as to the veracity of your comment, I do have a consideration!
Although I have already flown several times with Thai Airways, I don't get enough miles to get an upgrade ( buisness class ).
However, I suppose with 10 flights within 2 years, this should be possible ?
      Any explanation please.
      Dear thanks.
      Didit.

        Diditje,
A Brussels-Bangkok only flight entitles you to, I believe, 5747 Miles. A bangkok chiangmai or phuket, es 500 extra.so x 2 for a round trip.
You have to fly 10.000 Miles per year, or 15000 Miles every 2 years to get or stay silver.
This means that you can take 10 kg of extra luggage with you.
For 50.000 Miles/year or 80000 Miles/2years, you become a gold member. This means that you can take an extra 20 kg with you, plus access to the lounges.
I believe an upgrade to business costs 50000 Miles.
The first time you become gold you also get an upgrade to business
If you collect 50000 miles in a year, you also get an upgrade.
Make sure you order the correct tickets.
The cheapest tickets (from now I think € 731) only entitle you to 25% Miles. And tickets are also not possible to change date or upgrade.
That's why I take tickets that are about 100 € more expensive, they give me more leeway and also give 100% Miles. By the way, since I became a gold member, they give 125% Miles.
This means that if you fly about 4 times a year. You can get and keep your Miles fairly easily, and you can upgrade regularly.
I order my tickets myself via the website or via thaiairways Brussels. The ladies at the desk are extremely helpful and sometimes advise me how I can book the cheapest tickets, through them or via the internet.
        Long live Thai Airways!!! 🙂

          Hi Jean,
My sincere thanks for your extremely precise explanation.
This is indeed very beautiful, but unfortunately only for people who travel there and back several times a year.
Hopefully some more changes will follow.
          Thanks again.
          Didit.

Absolutely right Jean, I have flown 6 times with Thaiair, each time around 700 baht, for a direct flight, I do not understand that they dare to claim to fly cheaper with additional movements with time and transport costs. Then another waiting time even if it is only 2 hours! all together back and forth 12 hours tackles 25 € = 300 €
And also I was afraid that flights would be canceled, because the last 2 flights I was in a half full plane !! I hope that the good prices will be maintained because of this!

        Dear Jean,
I can understand that an error has crept into your message and that you meant 700 Euro instead of 700 Bath.
However, 2 hours round trip equals 4 hours. For 300 euros this is 75 euros per hour! Well worth considering I think.
        Didit.
