Dear Ronnie,

At the moment I am staying in the Netherlands and in my passport I have a Non immigrant O (retired) visa for Thailand that expires on October 21, 2019. I will leave for Thailand at the end of September and then stay in Thailand for 180 days, after 90 days I will across the border……..but then my visa has expired.

What are the options for not having problems with departure at the end of March 2020?

I would love to hear from you.

Regards,

Raymond

Dear Raymond,

1. You can have your stay of 90 days extended by a year. You will then have to meet the requirements for an annual extension. Costs 1900 Baht. If you stay in Thailand for a longer period of time every year, that might be something to consider. You can then have it renewed annually. Then don't forget a "Re-entry" before you leave Thailand and make sure you are back before your annual extension expires.

2. You can make a “Borderrun” after 90 days. You will then receive a stay of 30 days on the basis of “Visa Exemption” (Free). You can extend those 30 days at immigration by 30 days. Costs 1900 Baht. Afterwards you can possibly repeat that “border run” and extension.

3. You can also get a visa in Laos, among others. Be careful when you choose Vientiane. They work with an appointment system so plan this well in advance. Savannakhet is also possible. Working without an appointment system, I thought.
