Dear Ronnie,

I am a Belgian resident in Thailand with a non-immigrant O visa. Extended with one year stamp valid until January 14, 2020. So I have to get a new stamp at immigration in the course of December.

My passport is valid until June 30, 2021. Is this period long enough to get a stamp?

Regards,

Paul Timp

Dear Tim Pol,

Sure. No problem with the duration.

For a year extension, only the expiry date of your passport applies as a reference. In other words, a year extension can never be longer than the expiry date of your passport.

Your current permitted period of stay runs until January 14, 2020. The next annual renewal will follow that January 14, 2020 and run until January 14, 2021.

Since your passport is valid until June 30, 2021, there is no problem at all.

For the next extension, which follows January 14, 2021, it is best to apply for a new passport first, or your next extension will only go until June 30, 2021, ie the expiry date of your passport.

Regards,

RonnyLatYa
