Thailand visa question: Borderrun Laos
Dear Ronnie,
- Can I enter Laos without a visa (for a border run)?
- How much does it cost to enter Laos? And which currency?
- Can I re-enter Thailand from Laos with a TM6 arrival/departure card?
- Does my Thai friend also need a proof/visa document from Thai immigration to leave the country and enter Laos? And what are the possible costs of this?
Regards,
Marlow

I'm going to leave the answer to the reader who recently performed a “Border Run” as it has been a long time since I had any experience with that.
As for your TM6 card. A TM6 card in itself has nothing to do with a period of residence. A TM6 is a card on which you state all kinds of information for immigration upon arrival, but you cannot obtain a period of stay with it. A visa or visa waiver will determine the period of stay, not the TM6.

RonnyLatYa
I think 4 years ago I paid 1200 or 1500 baht at the border for visa. In any case it is 35 us dollars. For thai free.
You cannot enter Laos without a visa.
You can buy the necessary visa at the immigration at the border.
Paying in $ is the most attractive.
Bring a passport photo and simply fill in the correct papers.
Visa will be placed in your passport on the spot.
Cost was 35$.
The Thai only needs a passport.
Return to Thailand simply fill in the travel document.
Please note that you get 30 days over land, but this can only be done twice.
Also check the 6 months validity of your passport before leaving.
Paying in Laos with $ is the easiest.
Visa for Laos is usd 35 or the. 1500 or Lao kip 350000, at least for most countries and can be arranged at the border (at least in Savannakhet)
The Thai Consulate is open in the morning to apply for a visa. You can pick up your passport with visa the next day in the afternoon. So stay 1 night. A tip do not apply for a visa on Friday, then you can stay in Laos until Monday afternoon
(Information given to the best of my knowledge, I do not feel responsible for the correctness. Hope that others also give their opinion and I would contact the consulate myself. Closed on certain Thai (but I think also Laotian holidays)
He only makes a “Borderrun” according to his information. So he shouldn't be at the Thai consulate.
May 2019 made a border run to Laos via Nong Khai. Costs Bht 1500. TM6 is taken, fill in a new one when you return to Thailand. In Laos, a similar form and a tourist visa will also be placed in your passport, which will immediately be marked as “used” upon departure from Laos.
Next week I want to make another crossing to Laos. The whole thing took about an hour. I don't know where you want to cross the border?
THAI friend can enter and leave LAOS FREELY with an IDENTICARD OR PASSPORT.
Visa application charges:
Visitor transit 800 thb
Visitor tourist. 1000 thb
Non-immigrant single entry. 2000. thb
Non-immigrant multiple entries. 5000. thb only for resident applicants
Visa Fee must be paid in THB Only.
Back in Thailand then make a new visa in the emigration office, old visa has expired. You will then receive a 30-day visa.
Please complete a TM6 arrival card.
These data were known from last week.
He won't go after a visa. He only makes a “Borderrun” according to his information. So he shouldn't be at the Thai consulate.
You will not receive a 30-day visa at the border, but a 30-day visa waiver if you wish to enter Thailand without a visa.
I visited Thailand a few years ago and then I had to pay not only for a visa to enter the country, but also an exit fee to leave the country. I don't remember the amount.
when you go to the Thai embassy in Laos
have an appointment system can no longer enter
without an appointment. See the embassy's internet page
Difficult, good read. The letter writer does not go to the Thai embassy at all. He wants to cross the border and then back again.
When you go to immigration in Savannaket I have a name and phone number for you. Seurt picks you up at the border, has a bedroom for you, takes you to immigration, and back. He takes care of everything, little cost. Home Stay, 02098887468 or 02098185678 this applies to everyone.
Thanks for the responses.
In summary, I have become wiser again.
And Ronny, thanks for the explanation and corrections.
Regards, Manow
Border run to Laos cost 1600 Bath or 35 US dollars last year. You have to fill in the forms at the border or in my case go to the Laos consulate in Khon Kean and arrange everything there. then you can walk on. In Nongkai they have an arrangement to get through the gates for a small amount. then back to Thailand and fill in your papers again. easy to do.
