Questioner: D.

Based on my Non-Immigrant OA visa, I can return to Thailand under certain conditions. Now my visa expires when I'm quarantined.

I have decided to apply for a Thailand Elite visa, but there are several weeks between the issuing of this visa and the expiration of my old one.

What is my situation in the meantime if I am stuck in my hotel room due to quarantine and there is no way to reach the Immigration Service? Is there a normal tourist visa? Or an exception situation?

I assume that your period of stay expires during your quarantine and not your visa. Otherwise I can hear it.

When do you leave? Has the application already been submitted or do you still have to start?

Have you already applied for Thai Elite membership or are you planning to do so? Do you assume that you will receive the Elite visa within a few weeks, or have you already been informed when that will be?

I don't think it's possible to request an extension during the quarantine. I don't see immigration coming straight to your room to sort that out either.

It is not clear to me what exactly you mean with a “tourist” visa.

I am not aware of an exceptional situation, by which I mean that you could go into "overstay" during the quarantine and then apply for an extension immediately after the quarantine. Could be but I doubt it.

– You may also be able to leave earlier so that there is still time left after the quarantine. Please also take into account WE and/or public holidays after the quarantine. A possible “Visa Support Letter”, if you use that, you can request online I thought and you can also do that during the quarantine. Just like health insurance if requested by your immigration office when extending a period of stay obtained with a Non-immigrant OA visa.

– You can also leave after the expiry of your current period of stay. You must first apply for a new Non-immigrant OA visa at the embassy. Just start with a new visa and period of stay. If you have not yet applied for the Thai Elite, you will have plenty of time in Thailand.

– If the Thai Elite application has already been made, you can also leave later. I suspect that Thai Elite will contact the embassy to provide them with the necessary proof regarding visa. The embassy says on their website that card holders should contact Thai Elite. I would then do that and explain the situation. I think they will provide you with the necessary support for that price.
