Questioner: Alphonse

One last question though as I may change my plans. I am going from November 28, 2022 to April 27, 2023. After contacting you, I had now decided to go on a visa exemption for 45 days. Then I would do a visa run, etc to get my 150 days full. I am now departing Nov 28 – arriving Bangkok Nov 29.

My question: If I still apply for a METV Tourist multiple entry, everything via e-visa (that's still 20 days) and it wouldn't arrive in my inbox on 28/29 but later, can I get my visa exemption? exchange to METV in Thailand itself? Or will everything expire?

If you do not have that METV in your mailbox on departure, which would surprise me because there are still 18 days left, then that is not immediately a problem. Then you leave on Visa Exemption and you also enter Thailand on Visa Exemption. You then use that METV on your next entries. No problem

Exchanging a Visa Exemption period in Thailand for a METV period is not possible. If you want to use that METV, you must first leave Thailand and then come back with your METV. But that METV will be fine if you apply for it now. If you have everything in order, I think you will have it in your mailbox early next week.
