Questioner: Valentine

I read several times about an amount of money that must be in the bank to extend a visa. Is it now 400.000 baht if you have your own bank account and 800.000 baht if you have a joint account? It makes me doubt because at the end of November I have to extend my O visa.

I've also heard that if you have 65.000 baht transferred to the account in Thailand every month, you don't have to have that 400.000 baht. i

I don't know anymore what should or shouldn't and what is possible.

And do I have to guess how you're going to renew? As a Retired or as a Thai Marriage? You also do not extend a visa, but the period of stay that you have obtained with that visa.

Please note that when applying for an extension, the amount must be in the bank account for at least 2 months. If you plan to renew at the end of November and since we are already October 6….. Do the math.

Summarized:

As Retired

– Bank amount of at least 800 Baht in your own name. If it is a joint account, then double, so 000 Baht, because only half is regarded as yours. Not all immigration offices accept a joint account

of

– Income of at least 65 000 Baht. To be proved with e.g. visa support letter. Immigration may also accept monthly deposits of at least 65 Baht from abroad, but that depends on your immigration office.

of

– A combination of bank amount and income. Both must together amount to 800 Baht on an annual basis. Some immigration offices require a bank amount of at least 000 Baht and then you can supplement the rest with an income. (Visa Support Letter)

Like Thai Marriage

– Bank amount of at least 400 Baht in your own name. If it is a joint account, then double so 000 Baht because only half is regarded as yours. Not all immigration offices accept a joint account

of

– Income of at least 40 Baht. To be proved with e.g. visa support letter. Immigration may also accept monthly deposits from abroad, but that depends on your immigration office.

Combination is not possible as Thai Marriage.

Check with your local immigration office to see if they:

– Accept a joint account

– Accept deposits

Usually there is also a document there that describes the requirements and conditions for your extension. Once you know the options, you can make your choice.
