Questioner: Hank

It concerns an extension of a Non O visa on the basis of being married. I have to go to the Tor Mor in Lampang and they are very difficult there. Something is wrong every time.

First it is not accepted that I have a pension and state pension, I must have 800.000 Baht in my account. Not again and the letter from the Dutch embassy is accepted and my monthly pension and AOW is enough for retirement or on the basis of marriage. My 60 days have been extended to 90 days.

Problem is I have to come back in 1 month (September 1). However, I have to leave Thailand on the 13th. Am I going to save that? Can I also go to another Mueang (Chiang Mai) or do I have to go to Lampang? I know a set is being sent to Chiang Mai.

Did you enter on 90 days and then extended by 60 days and are you now going for a year extension as a Thai Marriage? Otherwise I wouldn't know how to get those 60 days as a Non-immigrant. Or you had to have entered as a Tourist, but then it is not correct that you say that “It concerns an extension of non o visa on the basis of being married”.

You will first have to convert to Non-immigrant before you can request an extension.

If you ask for a year extension as a Thai Marriage, it is usual that you first receive an “under consideration” period of usually 30 days. That is quite normal and I have written about it here several times.

That "under consideration" period usually extends beyond your current period of residence, and if so, you don't have to go beyond the 13th. You should then look at the date in that “under consideration” stamp. Until that day you are covered. That is usually the day you have to come back to pick up your renewal. That will be September 1, I understand from your story and until that date you are covered. Even if it is until after August 13.

During this period, your application will be examined and you can expect a home visit, among other things.

Of course, if you have to leave because you are going to the Netherlands on the 13th, for example, it was not so wise to ask for a year extension as Thai Marriage given the “under consideration” stamp. You were better off as Retired then. That usually goes faster.

You can possibly ask if they can decide that year extension earlier. Depends if they want to or not.

But if you don't really want to leave Thailand on the 13th, you can wait until September 1. You're covered by that "under consideration" stamp. Normally it will be September 1. At least according to the info you gave me.
