Questioner: Pepe

My husband and I want to go to Thailand for five months in November. We apply for a Non O visa. We already have an appointment for November 5. On Koh Samui we want to extend the period of stay as retired.

On the website of the Thai embassy we fall under number 22 for an extension. There I read that we must have an income of 6.500 baht per person per month for that extension. I wonder if that is net or gross?

If we do not have enough income, then there must also be an additional amount in the bank. Can that be on a Thai and / or account? Or do we each have to have a separate account? Or is that also allowed on a Dutch bank?

I know we have to legalize our income at the Dutch embassy in Bangkok, but I've seen that online.

Thank you in advance for reading and answering my questions.

  1. I don't know what you mean by "On the website of the Thai embassy, we fall under number 22 for renewal.”

The Thai embassy has nothing to do with extensions, so not important.

  1. But it is simple and often explained:

– Or a bank amount of at least 800 Baht on a Thai bank account 000 months before application and must then remain on it for 2 months.

– Either prove an income of at least 65 000 Baht with a Visa Support Letter and any actual deposits. Depends on the immigration office.

-Or a combination of income and bank amount that must be at least 800 Baht on an annual basis. Please note that some immigration offices require a bank amount of at least 000 Baht, which you are not allowed to arrive afterwards. Money must always be in a Thai account.

  1. You can prove that each separately, but if you are a married foreigner, both can also go as "dependent". This means that only one of the two must meet the financial condition. You will also have to provide proof of your marriage.

It is best to first obtain information about this at your immigration office.
