Questioner: Ricky

I am 76 years old and want to go to Norway for a month. I have been living in Thailand for about 10 years on an “O” visa. I want to use a single entry to come back to Thailand.

I have been insured with Cigna health insurance for a long time, only inpatient with a $3000 deductible, and for Covid 100% coverage. Do I need additional insurance or a statement to re-enter Thailand?

If you have been living in Thailand for 10 years, this means that this has been obtained with a residence period with a Non-immigrant O and which you have already extended for 10 years with one year at a time. If you leave Thailand, you must first apply for a Single re-entry (1.000 Baht). With this you will not lose the annual extension and you can re-enter Thailand. You don't need insurance for that.

Depending on when you will come back, the Thailand Pass may still be in effect. Insurance is currently still required for this. Can you see on this website and what are the other requirements to come back at the time of return.

With regard to insurance:

“Attach proof of insurance with at least 10,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand (COVID-19 test, both prior to and after arriving in Thailand, is no longer required)”

You now have to check whether your insurance policy meets this requirement.
