Questioner: Danny

A question about non immigrant visa O Retirement. I just see on the site of Thai embassy Brussels that the O retirement has been adjusted, it was not on it last time
non immigrant visa “O” Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with a state pension who wish to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days).

Can you apply for this if you want to stay in Thailand when you are retired or does it have to be an OA? In a few months I will be officially retired with this question.

You could always apply for a Non-O Retired. Only they have now cast it in a different Layout. With a Non-O Retired you will have a maximum stay of 90 days upon arrival. With a Non-OA that is one year.

If you want to stay longer than 90 days with a Non-O Retired, you can extend that period of stay by one year at immigration. At least if you meet the requirements of that Retired year extension. You can then repeat this annually. Or you have to leave Thailand after 90 days. You can then obtain another 90-day stay through a new entry. For that you need a Non-O Multiple entry and not a Non-O Single entry.

That Non-O Multiple entry has a validity period of one year. You can then enter and leave Thailand as often as you like for a year. With each entry during that validity period of one year, you will receive a new stay of maximum 90 days.

NB. It is not because you have a Multiple entry that you can extend those 90 days in Thailand by 90 days. You do have to leave Thailand or ask for a year extension.

A visa is also separate from the Corona requirements applicable at that time to enter or re-enter Thailand

The requirements for the visa can be found on the website:

Non-immigrant “O” Retirement (pensioner aged 50 or above with a state pension who wishes to stay in Thailand for no longer than 90 days) – Royal Thai Embassy Brussels

A Non-O Single entry visa costs 80 Euro. Validity period of 3 months.

A Non-O Multiple entry visa costs 170 Euro. Validity period one year.
