Questioner: Pat

I have a few practical questions regarding retirement extension. I obtained this at Immigration today, having previously obtained a Non Immigrant O. However, my passport is only valid until 28.12.2022.

So when I am back in Belgium I will ask for a new passport and keep the old one because it contains the visa and the extension, which I will need when I return.

Question 1: When applying for a TP, which passport should I upload?
Question 2: Do I have to be back in Thailand at least 30 days before the end and is a return ticket required? For example, can I also go back to Thailand on 10.12.2022 with a one-way ticket?

1. The passport you are traveling with, ie the new passport. As far as I know, no visa is requested at the TP anyway. Take your old passport with you, of course, and keep both together until the details about your extension have been added to your new passport

2. No. Why would you have to be in Thailand 30 days in advance? 30 days in advance is the time that you can request a year extension, but you can do so throughout that 30-day period. Until the end date of your annual renewal. Although waiting until the last day is not a good idea either.

No, a return ticket is not required since you have an extension until 28/12/22. A return ticket is never required. One can ask for a ticket that proves that you will leave Thailand within 30 days, but that is with a Visa Exemption and that is not the case here. And onward flight ticket is also good.

So you can leave on 10/12/22. As long as you are in Thailand before the end of your extension.
