Dear editors,

I'm going to visit my friend in Indonesia in October. After this we would like to fly back to the Netherlands together. He for a stay of 3 months. Now I found a cheap ticket from Denpasare airport (Bali) to Don Mueang International Airport and from Suvarnabhumi International Airport to Schiphol.

Now my question is whether we, but especially he, needs a visa because we have to go from one airport to another? If yes, can we request it at the airport?

With the tickets I found now, we will arrive in Bangkok on the first flight at 15:15 PM and our next flight will leave at 9:35 AM the next day.

I hope you can answer my question. If not, do you have another website where I can go with my question?

Yours faithfully,

Sanne

Dear Sanne,

I assume that you and your friend have Dutch and/or Indonesian nationality, because you do not say so. In that case you both qualify for a “Visa Exemption” ie a Visa exemption. Upon entry, you will receive a stamp in your passport at immigration that allows you to stay in Thailand for 30 days. Free, costs nothing. So more than enough. You don't have to do or request anything for this.

Here is a link (also for other readers) where you can see how it is arranged for certain countries. For holders of ordinary passports from the Netherlands/Belgium/Indonesia look in the purple column: www.mfa.go.th/main/contents/files/services-20150120-100712-551809.pdf
