A bus has been running from Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi) to Hua Hin for some time now. A welcome addition to the existing range of transport such as the train, minivan and taxi.

Of course, the writer of this article had to test whether this bus is a recommendation for readers of Thailandblog, read my experiences.

Options to travel from Bangkok Airport to Hua Hin

The train from Bangkok is very slow (it takes more than four hours) and you first have to go from Bangkok Airport to the center of Bangkok to get on the train there. The minivans are moving coffins. In addition, they are quite uncomfortable, you can store little luggage and you also have to pay extra for that. In addition, most drivers drive like crazy. A bus crashes regularly.

A normal taxi is the best option but quite pricey. Depending on your negotiating skills, you will soon lose 2500 baht (65 euros). Not much in itself if you can share it with one or more people, but if you travel alone, it is quite expensive.

Luxury coach

Fortunately, there is now an alternative: comfortable, cheap and fast. For only 305 baht per person you can take a seat in a brand new VIP bus with business class seats and air conditioning. Your bags go at the bottom of the bus. The seats are really excellent and can be adjusted in all positions, a relaxing nap is in the offing. The bus even has a toilet. The drive to Hua Hin takes about three hours, depending on how busy the road is.

You can also consider this bus if you have to go to Hua Hin from Bangkok city. Take the Airport Rail link to the airport and you can board there.

How does it work?

You go to level 1 at gate 8 at Suvarnabhumi Airport (the same bus company that also offers the route to Pattaya). You buy a ticket there. Do you want to get off earlier, for example in Cha-am? That is also possible. Pass it on to the employee on the bus.

Do you want to go from Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi? Then you can board on Phetkasem Road at the bus station at Soi 96/1 (near the Bangkok Hospital). See the timetable on the left for departure times. Always check the website to see if the departure times have not changed: www.airporthuahinbus.com/

Conclusion

An excellent extension of the existing range. We traveled from Pattaya to Hua Hin and transferred at Bangkok Airport. The bus from Bangkok to Hua Hin was more than excellent. Next time I will choose this mode of transport again.

The timetable is just not correct (anymore). We left at 09.00 from Hua Hin to Bangkok. See website.

@ Dear Ineke Thank you for your comment. You are right I used an old schematic. I have now adjusted the schedule.

Bus also stops in Cha-am on request, in front of Government Savings Bank on Phetkasem Road.
The only disadvantage is that you have to go to Hua-Hin in advance to buy a ticket and make sure that the lady behind the counter fills in Cha-am on the voucher and in the computer!

My husband and I also took the bus from the airport to Hua Hin at the beginning of February. This is in response to an earlier article on this blog.
A very good experience, luxury bus, even a bottle of water for the road, only 3 passengers on the way there. It is advisable to buy a ticket for the return journey immediately upon arrival in Hua Hin, you do not have to take an extra taxi to the point of departure.
Also on the way back only 6 passengers. Runs nicely on time.
We will definitely be using this more often!

We used this bus from Hua Hin to Bangkok airport at the end of January and found it more than excellent. Lovely seats, plenty of legroom and you also get a bottle of water. And then directly to the airport in three hours. Maybe a tip… book a few days in advance, I saw that a few people wanted to buy a ticket on the spot but were disappointed because the bus was full.

    Dear Khan Peter,
My sister and brother-in-law also heard a good response about the bus from Bangkok Airport to Hua Hin and back. It was definitely recommended.
Now I read your piece about this on the blog and you are also talking about the route Bangkok Airport to Pattaya with the same company. Do you have some more information about this because we are going our next holiday to Baan Amphur (near Pattaya).

Well, you can report to the same counter. The journey from Bangkok to Pattaya takes a bit shorter. You only pay 135 baht and the bus is a lot older. Nevertheless, good to do. The terminus is Jomtien. Taxis are usually already waiting there.

I read little about the free shuttle service bus that takes you to the public transport center. These depart from level 1 and 2. I believe they are (were) white buses.

        http://www.airportsuvarnabhumi.com/airport-features/suvarnabhumi-public-transportation/airport-shuttle-bus/

Buses depart from this well-equipped transport center (convenient store, ATM, good seats, etc.) to various directions.
Excellent connections and service to eg the east..Chonburi…SriRacha..Pattaya..Jomtien. Also buses to Rayong and Trat…and Koh Chang.

Get off at the various intersections in Nua Klang and Tai in Pattaya, for example.

You can indeed buy tickets in Cha-Am, you have to be on Phetkasem Rd at the desk of the yellow bus company, which is about 300 m from the traffic lights towards BKK. Unfortunately, the manager does not speak English and is only there in the afternoon. He will go to Hua-Hin for you and you can pick up your tickets the next day.

If I want to forward this story via FB, I can't because the share box is not visible.
    Maybe something to look at.

I think the schedule changed AGAIN from April 15, 2013
(http://www.airporthuahinbus.com/), which means, among other things, that there is another bus from the airport to hua hin at 11.30 am

We drove from Suvarnabhumi to Hua Hin by bus at 11.30 am last Saturday.

Looks fine indeed, we were just unlucky that there was a lot of traffic jam and had a driver who clearly did not know the way. For the last 45 minutes, the co-driver has only sat with the phone to her ear asking them how to drive.

We did it in 5 hours. But still want to go back to the airport with Bell because the seats are perfect, lots of legroom.
Maybe we just had bad luck...

is it perhaps better to book a bus ticket from bangkok to hua hin in advance because of possible crowds, or is it not going to work that fast, e.g.
