How do I apply for a visa, does the right or left have priority in Thailand, can I ride a motorcycle without a license? Thailandblog regularly receives questions from readers, which have already been answered on the blog. The problem is: where can I find the answers among the thousands of posts on the blog?

There is a second problem. Those who read the responses to readers' questions often fail to see the wood for the trees. Some commenters just yell, other commenters give the right answers, but how do you know what's right and what's wrong?

To solve these problems once and for all, Thailandblog introduces a new section: Folders. The subjects of the dossiers can be found in the left column under the heading Dossiers. The list is not yet complete, because some topics still need to be sorted out. But at least there's a start now.

Some subjects are in the form of a FAQ created by Jacques Koppert and Ronny Mergits. The Q&As contain the most frequently asked questions plus short answers. Behind the posting is a second document with extensive information for those who want to know the ins and outs. Jacques and Ronny thank you, because we know you put a lot of work into it.

The 'Building and renting' file still has to be made and we immediately put out an appeal: who wants to get involved? Again in the form of a Q&A with an underlying document. And while we're at it; maybe someone wants to plunge into the subject of driving test and driver's license. If there are any other suggestions for topics, we would love to hear from you.

A nice initiative. It is indeed often very confusing that when you ask several people something, you can get completely different answers, which only raises more questions.

Suggestions? Interesting Thai Baht deposits? Airfare tips (also with departure from BKK)? Health insurance for long-stayers?

@justHarry I'll put the health insurance suggestion on my wish list. The others are too tied to current events. A dossier is particularly suitable for (largely) timeless subjects.

Sometimes it is difficult to draw a line because the rules are often seen differently depending on the place where one lives; Interpretation?

      • Dick van der Lugt says up

@ Daniel True, rules are sometimes applied differently locally. In Ronny's posting about visas he also makes that reservation. He gives the official version, because it is impossible to mention all the deviations.

If the files are easy to find for visitors, it should certainly contribute that the most frequently asked questions and answers can be found there. Otherwise, shape it like this (using a picture?) in the left menu so that it really stands out in the list of themes/topics ?

@ Rob V The word dossier in the left column should suffice. If people still can't find the information, they have to rent a house in Hoenderloo. We might be able to do the block dossier smell like garlic. That should stand out. The list is not yet complete, however. It's being worked on.

Thank you very much for this supplement, great.
It does make some things a lot easier.

Good initiative. Given the many responses to this blog as a subject, health insurance certainly seems like a good addition. Renting/buying a house as a possible file seems to me to be a suggestion for many visitors to this blog.

Very nice all the useful information that can be found under the heading "files".
We have tickets for a stay of exactly 30 days (we leave on the 30th day).
So do not need a visa. Suppose the plane is delayed for 1 day, will you get into trouble?

@ Anita van Leeuwen-Bouman You will receive an answer by e-mail from the author of the information about visas.
