Hua Hin has a number of bus terminals from which you can travel to other destinations in Thailand, including Chiang Mai, Bangkok Airport, the southern bus terminal in Bangkok, Phuket, Korat and Ubon Ratchatani.

Bus terminals in Hua Hin

The so-called VIP buses run on the routes mentioned. Reasonably comfortable buses with air conditioning and usually a toilet. Many VIP buses depart from the new terminal on Soi 96/1, just south of Bangkok Hospital (see photos). There is also a Pran Tours bus terminal at Siri Petchkasem Hotel on Srasong Rd, near Dechanuchit Rd.

The bus services in Thailand can be a bit confusing because many commercial companies also offer different scheduled services in addition to regular public transport. These also do not always stop and depart from the same bus station.

Hua Hin bus services

There are the following bus services in Hua Hin:

  • The blue air-conditioned buses to and from Bangkok (Pran Tours – bus terminal Srasong Rd).
  • The VIP buses with air conditioning and (usually) toilet that depart to Bangkok Airport, south towards Phuket and to Isaan (Hua Hin bus terminal Soi 96/1).
  • The local orange buses that go to Pranburi and Petchaburi.

Alternatives

In addition to these services, there are also companies that drive minibuses (minivans) to Bangkok and other destinations. In addition, there is a train connection from Bangkok to Hua Hin and this train continues to the south of Thailand. We will now disregard both.

Travel by bus from Hua Hin

A widely used bus service with air-conditioned buses is Hua Hin Pran Tours, which depart for Bangkok every 30 minutes from Srasong Road. The buses have the southern bus terminal in Bangkok as their final destination.

If you want to go to Bangkok Airport, there is the excellent VIP bus that departs from bus terminal Soi 96/1. Read more here: bus-bangkok-airport-to-hua-hin/

If you plan to travel by bus to the south (Phuket), it is best to go to the Hua Hin bus terminal Soi 96/1. There is an information desk where the departure times are listed and you can buy bus tickets there.

There are also tour buses from the Hua Hin bus terminal Soi 96/1 to Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. Finally, you can also take the same bus company to Northeast Thailand (Isaan) with the destination Korat and Ubon

Bus ticket prices are relatively low. For 300 baht you will be taken to Bangkok. For the longer distances to the North, Northeast and South you have to count on about 600 baht.

If you want to get off earlier on the way, that is sometimes possible. Discuss this with the bus company. It is a good idea to buy your bus ticket at the counter one day in advance. Then you are sure of a place.

Take the VIP bus to Bangkok Airport (305 baht or so). The same bus company also provides the bus service to Pattaya with Jomtien as final destination. One way ticket 135 baht.

Thanks for the quick response, I'll definitely do something about it.
Just one question do you have to buy a ticket in bangkok or do you already buy it in hua hin to pattaya.

I think you can only buy a ticket to Bangkok airport in Hua Hin. Go to the counter there. First floor. We did it the same way, but in reverse from Pattaya to Hua Hin.

minivans run to Pattaya several times a day from Sa Song rd. End point 3rd road in Pattaya. Price 400 Baht. I've already done this 20 times and I'm still alive (maybe I got lucky!)

I see in the photo of the bus station, above this article, that Phuket is one of the destinations listed at the ticket office.

    No problem Karlin.
The bus station at soi 96 departs the bus from Hua hin to Phuket.

    • Karlijn says up

      Thanks Pim!
Do you happen to know how long the bus journey from Hua Hin to Phuket takes? Is it 'safe' to travel with this? Thank you in advance!

  8. Pim . says up

    Dear Karlin.
I've never taken that bus myself.
I do have an adopted child who can go to school there .
My customers for herring are also waiting for that bus after about 12 hours.
It's just where you need to be, it can sometimes take longer.
Friends of mine drive their Ferrari in 8 hours, but sometimes came here to race against me on the go-kart track.
I can't tell you if it's safe, I've never had any complaints from the herring that they were bothered on the way.
I do know that they were quickly eaten there .
In any case I wish you a good trip and if you go after Friday I might be able to see you on the 28th at the evening of the Dutch association next to the immigration in the 3 Girls.
