The city of Pattaya expects one million more Chinese tourists to visit the famous (infamous, if you will) Thai resort every year. That ruling is based on AirAsia's commitment to operate two new direct routes from U-Tapao to Nan Ning and Nan Xang.

In view of this expected increase in Chinese tourists, a meeting was held at the town hall, where various authorities and travel organizations discussed how to deal with this increase. An important point was the lack of a good public transport connection from U-Tapao airport to Pattaya and other cities in the region.

AirAsia plans to operate four flights a week between U-Tapao and Nan Ning and three flights a week between U-Tapao and Nan Xang from September 25, using two 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline is confident that these new routes will be a great success.

So much for the news, but I have one more pressing question. So it will be 7 flights per week in an Airbus A320, each with a maximum of 180 passengers on board. I don't need a pocket Japanese to determine that this means 1260 more tourists per week. This then becomes 52 x 1260 = 65.520 tourists per year. That is nowhere near a million or is a special Thai calculation system applied?

It is the calculation system of the TAT very special and very exclusive.
That's where the most unexpected results come from.

On the other hand, most ordinary Thais can't do this math either, so they won't notice.

    two x 180 seats Airbus tells the story, so 65.520 x 2 = 131.040 expected visitors maximum

They have a very special multiplier in Thailand. They name a number and then find out that at least 16 aircraft must land per day. Then they look at the layout of an Airbus320 because they have never lived there and finally they have to conclude that there would be insufficient hotel space, but the big advantage is that all other tourists stay away and perhaps all the nice women as well.

The solution is to build some form of Turkish resorts about 40 kilometers from Pattaya, say near the airport. The ChinaTown of Chonburi Province.

But their unstoppable enthusiasm keeps this blog busy.
Finally: The vision of economic growth (6%) will also not be achieved and they should be happy if growth remains positive.

An HSL from South China to Rayong would be the ideal solution, but then investors would have to come and the lack of this is the biggest problem.

I am convinced that in 5 years 25 million people a year will come to Pattaya……I think??

I checked the Air Asia website for a little while, but it is indeed a total (so together) of 7 flights.
but for the incredibly low price (from) 999 Bhat one way, of course.

For its price, the Chinese are warm, I think. So it will be for many people to sit on the roof (on the roof is also possible, just look at the train in India).

    Thai and math ????

Unemployment is 0,7% they don't even have a registration system ha, ha, ha.

They don't know math. Certainly not by heart. After the latest reports of a rape
they are responsible for two Chinese women and a number of robberies (even with injuries) of Chinese people
China, of course, eager to go to Pattaya. The women want such a rape
ever experience. It's also free. So they go for it.
Reality will be different. Tourism, especially of Chinese people, will decline.
The Jen has dropped. That also helps a bit with the decline.
I just have to laugh at that kind of reporting.
I wish the TAT good luck with the next prediction.

The annoying thing is, of course, that they later tell you that their expectations have been exceeded.

Pattaya is or is already just an amusement park and that is a great pity

What to do with those hordes of Chinese who run through Mike Shopping Mall without buying anything and push the other visitors out of the way. Even more crowds on Pattaya Beach Road and others due to tour buses and everywhere the peace is disturbed by these noisy people. On and off to Koh Larn with speedboats from the beach where sun tourists have less fun and Koh Larn produces more waste. In addition to special prices for flights, there are also reduced prices for hotels, park entrances, etc., which prices do not apply to “normal” tourists. Everything for turnover figures that require more construction, causing Pattaya to slide further away from a family resort to one large amusement park for Chinese. Stimulating mass tourism has more disadvantages than advantages in the long term.

    Well, a Thai and math…
If you have to pay 2 × 40 baht and you pay with 100, they have to take the pocket Japanese to calculate what they have to give back. And even then it still goes wrong regularly….
With digits above 1000 it becomes very difficult. With these kinds of figures it will be completely impossible for a Thai to calculate correctly, even for those with a so-called university education.
Mathematics is not included in the curriculum

That's right, a million Chinese every year…..the wish is perhaps the father of the thought…..
with now the last 1/2 years the strong very strong decline of Europeans and Russians among others.

What a party and what will it bring the little independent man in Pattaya almost nothing, and the hotels then I hear your thinking almost nothing because the Chinese come with an organization they often don't even dare to walk around alone but only in tours with about 25 men and all those Chinese travel organizations want the hotel rooms at about cost price, and there is quite a surplus of hotel rooms so that will be fine. Furthermore, the Chinese buy relatively little from small entrepreneurs, only in massive department stores will they perhaps notice something. I think bars and restaurants don't have to cheer too hard either, because they don't run floor flat there either, maybe some 7elevens will suddenly see the sale of drinks rise sharply.

Who stays away more and more as a result of the massive invasion of Chinese (but also due to the massive arrival of Arabs, Russians, Indians for that matter) the good old Europeans, Australians, North Americans who do spend capital in bars, restaurants, boutiques and some to ladies of course. They are slowly going to the Philippines or Cambodia and you name it so who ultimately earns what…. Congratulations Pattaya.
