Changes at Dongtan Beach (Jomtien)
Sometimes it is interesting to visit an area again after some time, in this case along Dongtan Beach.
It was remarkable that from the Jomtien Beach you could drive straight ahead without hindrance. No parking guard and the closure that says: closed between 10.00 a.m. and 17.00 p.m., it was open. How long this will remain so is unknown. A few cars were parked ahead. So, out of curiosity, I drove on.
Due to the few beach chair rental companies and the large spaces in between, the area looked very nice and inviting. Due to the clear weather, Koh Larn seemed to be just a stone's throw away which was not the case before. Sorry to note that the Rabbit Restaurant is closed for the time being. Further on is The Heritage with an entrance flanked by two beautiful columns.
The beach road has been continued from the building with lifeboats near the Pattaya Park. The Pattaya Park was deserted, no sign of life. If the road is continued, the road ends at Phra Tam Nak 5 at the end.
There are a number of beautiful hotels and condos at this point. One with the eloquent inscription “Royal Beach View”. And with a little imagination you can see the sea between the other buildings. It is striking that in this area you can enjoy the view in a relaxed way! Whether or not on a terrace.
In my experience a completely different Pattaya, so that I will be here more often.

Since the connection with Pratamnak Soi 5 is a fact, the oh so quiet dongtan beach road has been transformed into a real race track for cars with noisy exhausts, motorcycles, scooters if I may call them that, which race at speeds of 80 km over this narrow race away. The footpath is now for tricycles, electric scooters, etc., not to forget cyclists and some other types for moving things. And then it's still pretty quiet now. No or hardly any farang so only parking Thais. Who will never learn to park in reverse. The announced improvement of 160 million is exclusively for Pattaya beach. For example for toilets. All in all, it has not become more fun and for those who live on the beach road, watch out: first right then left. And oh yes, the famous TUI restaurant (next to Aquarius) has also been closed for weeks. Will it ever open again?
One more thing: to avoid congestion, this route is also used as an escape route, after all, turn left via soi 5 onto pratamnak road and you are at the viaduct with various options.

The "racing" will immediately be punished by the number of speed bumps of large dimensions.
The Pattaya Beach has never been so peaceful.
I almost feel guilty if I drive there as the only driver!
