The Non-Immigrant OA visa has been linked to Thai health insurance for almost 4 months now. No annual extension without this insurance. And yet I see few panic reactions from people, in this case of a retirement visa, almost only older people, sometimes into their late eighties. Often people who no longer have any accommodation options in Europe.

I regularly read here in your comments regarding the health insurance "initial period of residence". That makes me think. Came here with a Non-immigrant OA but due to a stupid forgetfulness (not applying for a re-entry) I was granted 30 days on my return to Thailand to apply for a new visa. Immigration then gave me a Non-immigrant O based on retirement.

Ronny, I think you don't have to show health insurance in Rayong if you renew based on OA Marriage. Is that no longer true? If you want to extend on the basis of OA Retirement, you must show your health insurance. Whether the visa or the extension was issued before October 31, 2019 makes no difference in Rayong.

In June 2019, I had my Non O visa, obtained in Belgium, extended in Thailand with an annual visa based on retirement. Do I now have to present proof of health insurance when renewing my annual visa (in June)? I have both hospitalization and travel insurance in Belgium. I brought my papers, proving that my 800.000 THB was still in my bank account after 3 months, to immigration Jomtien. I took the opportunity to ask if I should now present health insurance with my next application for an extension of my annual visa. The friendly Thai servant asked and looked at my passport and replied that I was indeed obliged to take out health insurance.
