Dutch holidaymakers lose millions due to hidden costs
Dutch holidaymakers lose € 384,19 million annually in hidden bank costs. They receive this bill when they go on holiday outside the euro zone and pay in a different currency.
Change money in Thailand
During his last holiday here in Pattaya, Koos, you remember him, that unlucky guy from Beerta participated in a tournament with us in Megabreak Poolhall. At a certain point he comes to me: “What I am experiencing now, unbelievable!” Tell Koos, tell!
No doubt my question has already been addressed on this blog, but since I can't find anything I'll ask it anyway. What do you recommend to spend a holiday in Thailand financially, bring your entire budget in euros and exchange for Baht in Thailand, or simply withdraw money from the wall every time with your bank card? My budget (without flight and hotel costs) is 3.000 € for about 18 days.
This week there was a question on the Thailand blog about exchanging Thai money for Dutch money. This usually involves not too large amounts. Exchange offices often bring the outcome. But now a question to readers of Thailand blog: When I leave Thailand permanently and do not return for the first few years, can I also close my visa account (bank account with the visa amount of 800.000 baht!)? To take the equivalent value in cash in euros is quite something. Exchanging private money in Thailand is not an option! Need a lot of bank paper and statements from bank / customs. (max. export and/or import 10.000 Euro).
My holiday in Thailand is almost over and I haven't run out of money yet. Now I have to exchange my Thai baht to euros, but the question is where I can do this best. Is the exchange rate most favorable in the Netherlands or in Thailand?
Does anyone have experience with exchanging Euro to Thai Bath – in Bangkok – at one of the jewelers in the vicinity of China Town? Because it concerns a considerable amount, we look at the different options.
I will soon be leaving for Thailand again and upon arrival in BKK I will fly on to Udon Thani (and presumably from the airport there to Nong Khai). I usually exchange BKK money at SuperRich at a good exchange rate. But now, of course, this is not possible.
I will soon settle in Thailand together with my Thai wife, now I am taking over 10.000 euros in cash, which I report at Schiphol. I want to exchange that money in Pattaya and put it in a Thai bank. My question is does anyone have a tip where and with whom I can best exchange?
Which exchange office in the arrivals hall at Bangkok airport is the best place to exchange euros, at a good rate.
Just now on Suvarnabhumi to Super Rich. Had read about it on this blog, so I went to the location on the train. There turned out to be two Super Riches: a red one and a green one. In the article here there was a picture of the red one, but I saw some Thai standing on the green one and thought: "They must know for sure?" Weird two Super Riches within 25 meters so to speak. The green one chosen was already a lot better rate than in the arrivals hall.
Where can I exchange Euros against THB at Suvarnabhumi Airport without exchanger charging commission? Ever heard that this is somewhere on the floor from which the express train to Bangkok departs.
Reader question: Euros exchange in Bangkok
Soon we will leave for Thailand again for the winter. From experience I usually take cash Euros with me and exchange them in an exchange office in Paseo Shopping Mall along Lad Krabang Road.
In a few weeks I will be traveling to Thailand again with the family, to visit the in-laws. My Thai wife has several accounts with Thai banks, so we always take cash with us, deposit it in the account in Bath and that's it.
I would like to know what is smart to do in terms of money. I'm going to Thailand next month and was wondering if I should just use a debit card in Thailand or bring cash? This is because the euro is so low against the baht.
Reader question: Does anyone know if there is a reliable bureau de change in Chiangmai?
We will soon be leaving for Chiangmai and because I read so much through your blog about debit cards or exchanging cash, we want to take cash with us this year.
I have Thai Baht in a bank in Thailand and want to transfer it to the Netherlands. Is it best to first exchange the Baht into Euros and then transfer or transfer the Baht directly, which will then be exchanged into Euros in the Netherlands?
I am going to Thailand to Phuket in 4 weeks. My question is where is the best place to exchange money? Here in the Netherlands or in Phuket? Where do I get the best rate? I want to exchange 500 euros for 9 days.
