I read on Thailand blog and in Bangkok Post that Thailand is experiencing the worst drought in years. Isn't it time to ban water throwing during Songkran? It is of course strange that you are going to waste so much water while the farmers are desperate for water. In just under 3 months it will be that time again. Why are there no questions asked about this in the Thai parliament like we do in the House of Representatives? Does the parliament in Thailand work well?

The official Thai Songkran celebration is from Saturday, April 13 to Monday, April 15, but for this Monday, Thais receive another compensation day, Tuesday, April 16. Again, many institutions are not open for three days.

The merry days of Songkran are over. The strongholds of the families have returned to their jobs, away from family and friends for months. Most will not return until late September. Debts have been paid, outstanding bills paid, karma for a next life has been collected in the temples.
