A news report from last week showed a video of a pickup truck skidding narrowly to miss a passing woman. Not exactly world news, but it happened in a sub-district of Samut Sakhon called Phantai Norasing. The message did mention that there was a local legend associated with the sub-district and its naming, and that's when things got interesting.

Retirement Visa Extension Samut Sakhon. Necessary documents were in order. During the control of documents, you have to fill in a new paper for extension of stay. Paper signed for knowledge of the penalties in case of overstay. And also a paper for acknowledgment that next year I only need a statement from the bank that every month the amount of minimum 65.000 baht will be deposited into my Thai account. No more affidavit needed confirmed the immigration officer.

90 days notification in Samut Sakhon. Went to Samut Sakhon immigration office today for my 90 days notice. Should have brought my bank book just to be sure, you never know. I handed over my passport and the previous 90 days note and after 3 minutes my passport along with the next 90 days note was handed to me. My bank book was not asked and no other questions were asked.

Even less of mountains and ancient cultures in the north of Thailand. Yet salt production is also part of the tradition of Thailand.
