From the editor: Number of comments disappeared due to technical problem
Unfortunately, a number of comments have disappeared today. This is due to a technical problem that required us to restore a backup.
Dear readers, today we can share a special moment with you. There are no fewer than a quarter of a million comments on Thailandblog! A truly staggering number. We are very proud of this result and would like to thank everyone who contributed to it.
Editors: Again email notifications of new comments
Some time ago we had some problems with Thailandblog's website due to a plugin that acted strangely. That problem has now been solved, but there was still a problem that needed attention: the automatic e-mail notifications for a new comment under a posting.
We notice that the reactions of readers to the situation surrounding the outbreak of the Coronavirus are becoming increasingly intense. Understandable in itself because fear and ambiguity creates more emotion and means that some people no longer have control over themselves. This in turn manifests itself in personal attacks on others that trivialize or exaggerate the outbreak.
Editors' Notes: Comment issues
There have been problems with the comment option for a few days. For example, you could no longer see whether a comment was in moderation and comments would disappear. Naturally, we have asked our technical people to investigate this problem. It has emerged that the problems arose after the last update of WordPress.
More than 150.000 comments on Thailandblog!
Today we once again report a nice milestone: Thailandblog passed the limit of 150.000 comments yesterday. There are more than 17.000 postings on Thailandblog. A simple calculation shows that on average there are almost 9 reactions to an article and that is a lot.
Milestone: 125.000 comments on Thailandblog!
As of today, there are more than 125.000 comments from readers on Thailandblog. The editors and bloggers are very excited about this new milestone as it shows how engaged our readers are with the blog.
Due to some problems with the caching of the website, our server's database has become overloaded. Restarting the server and database did not fix the problems.
Editor's note: Old comment panel active again
Dear readers, we have decided to restore the old comment panel and discontinue Disqus.
Temporarily you cannot see how many comments there are on an article. There are comments but then you have to click on the article and look at the bottom of the article. Thailandblog receives between 50 - 100 responses from readers every day, so if you don't want to miss anything, it's good to take a look under the article of your choice.
From the editors: Response panel Thailandblog changed
The day before yesterday, the website of Thailandblog.nl has undergone an important change. We have replaced the default WordPress comment panel with Disqus.
Editorial notices
Dear readers, here is a notice about responding to old postings and sending the newsletter.
Editors' notice: Reviewing responses adjusted
As of today, we have adapted the existing assessment system. This makes it even easier to see which reactions have been rated the most valuable by the other readers and which reactions are less good or relevant.
