Partly inspired by a question on social media, De Inquisitor started thinking about why he came to Thailand, why he loves it. Most of the answers were clichéd. The climate. The food. The culture. I am going to Pattaya for the second time soon. I want to visit some places in the area, can't walk for a long time given my age and therefore prefer to use a taxi that runs on the meter. Now I see enough taxis with meters but no one who wants to drive on the meter. My question is why is that? Can't find a taxi in Pattaya that just runs on the meter like in Bangkok? Isn't that also required by law?
