I will never forget it. The idyllic town of Pai in Northern Thailand. Where the atmosphere of reggae is in the air. It was just before the turn of the century. I traveled from Bangkok to Chiang Mai by night train, had an unfortunate adventure in a cave at Mae Hong Son and arrived at this backpacker resort by bus.

In Mae Hong Son province, it has been decided to suspend tube rafting, a popular tourist activity in Pai district, during the rainy season due to high water levels. Due to the danger of white water and unexpected flooding, this becomes too risky for tourists.
Road 1265: a nice car trip in the Pai area
If you want to take a quiet and beautiful car ride, turn off about 18 kilometers southeast of the city of Pai and take road 1265. You will then reach the most deserted road in Thailand, which will take you to the district of Galyani Vadhana.
Is Pai still worth it?
On May 5 I will travel to Thailand again after a delay of 2 years (Covid). I am always looking for new places to discover. The list also includes Pai and its surroundings. I've already been to Chiang Mai and also a bit more west of it.

Flying from Chiang Mai to Pai?
Does anyone have a recent experience of flying from Chiang Mai to Pai by plane (I can't find any flights on the internet).
Interested in going to Pai (in the north of Thailand) with my Thai girlfriend for a few days in mid-June. I think what is written about it is very interesting. But is it recommended with the eventual high rainfall? We have to rent a moped there and that with a lot of rain.

In 2018 I will leave again for Pai, among others. I have already done that for four years (then three days). But next time I will stay there with a local couple of friends (who live in Pai) for a full week and they asked me what else do you want to see? We can do a motorbike tour and also the Mae Hong Son loop. What can we all see during that ride that is worth seeing and how much time do we spend on it in total?
