In response to a question about the rejection of a Schengen visa, Rob V. made inquiries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands. It is unclear whether the temporary arrangement for long-distance loved ones still applies, now that fully vaccinated Thais are allowed to travel to the Netherlands with a valid vaccination certificate.
The temporary long-distance lovers scheme came into force on 27 July. This regulation applies to Dutch nationals and EU citizens who want to bring their loved one to the Netherlands for a short stay from a country with an entry ban. Thailand so. This is allowed for a maximum of 90 days within a period of 180 days. This is an exception to the entry ban from Thailand to the Netherlands.

As the title says, how do you deal with a long distance relationship now in times of Corona? I haven't seen my girlfriend since February 2020. I already know this will be for the whole year. And deep down I suspect that it won't work out in 2021 either. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear that for most of us, we won't see our girlfriends / wives for a very long time. If the relationship with me was not so deep and advanced, it would probably have ended long ago, since there is no longer any future perspective.
Due to the corona crisis, the patience of couples with a long-distance relationship is being tested quite a bit. Some couples have not seen each other for months because of closed borders.
