Dao is thirty years old and comes from Udon Thani, in the Northeast of Thailand, which is called Isan. Every evening she puts on a tight dress, combs her black hair until it shines, makes up her face and puts on red high-heeled shoes.

For elephants you have to go to Surin in Isaan on November 20 and 21 for the annual 'Elephant Roundup'. But also dragging tree trunks and a game of elephant football.

by Khun Peter If I can believe the Dutch press, a quarter of Thailand is flooded. That seems quite exaggerated to me. If a quarter of Thailand is under water, you speak of a huge flood disaster. According to Bangkok Post, the situation in Nakhon Ratchasima, Lop Buri and Nakhon Sawan province is serious. The following provinces are also at risk: Sing Buri, Chai Nat, Ang Thong, Pathum Thani, Ayutthaya and Nonthaburi. The Chao Phraya River is struggling…

Life has marked her. The hard life in the countryside in Isaan. Working on the rice fields, the burning sun does the rest. Deep grooves in her face. Her back has grown crooked. The traces of a poverty-stricken existence… Or not? © Photo: Khun Peter

This photo from Isaan is a true mystery. You see five people but six legs. In any case, it is great that so many Thai people fit on a moped. Dangerous? No. The driver is wearing a helmet! .

By Khun Peter When parties fight for what they consider to be justice, how far can you go? This discussion is now taking place in Bangkok where the red shirts have blocked the commercial center of the capital. The red shirts showed appreciation and respect for the controlled performance so far. With the exception of the primitive 'blood action', because few Thais (including redshirts) understood that. As an impartial spectator you can also have sympathy for …

By Khun Peter They were feared, the red army of stupid peasants from Isan. Simple souls who only wanted to protest for money. Suckers who blindly follow the billionaire and professional swindler Thaksin. They would burn down Bangkok. The airport would be occupied, the tourists would flee Thailand screaming. A civil war at least. Dead, wounded and crippled would fall. Chaos, anarchy and unrest in beautiful, peaceful Thailand. And once the reds get to the…

For a number of gentlemen among us it may be a pleasant thought that you can still be a 'sexy' man over the age of 65, with a …
