I am currently in a complex situation where I would like to share some advice and experiences on how to get a dual passport for my girlfriend. My girlfriend is originally from Thailand and would like to live permanently in the Netherlands. My 16-year-old son has to renew his Dutch passport in a month. In 2018 he also received a Thai passport in The Hague. The passport application form asks for foreign passports and nationalities. My son now has Dutch and Thai nationality.

I have been living in the Netherlands with my Thai girlfriend since 2004. The MVV has been extended several times, but now we want to apply for a Dutch passport. What about the duplicate passport? Read that at IND that double passport is only possible if she is married to me or has a registered partnership? What are the consequences if she does not report this to the Thai authorities after obtaining her passport and Dutch citizenship? She does not want to lose her Thai nationality.
