Dear readers,
We will permanently move to Thailand at the end of September or beginning of October. We will settle in Phrae (zip code 54000), where we will enjoy our retirement. I have two hobbies: firstly golfing and secondly building a model train track in N scale.
Golfing
I have a handicap of 26,3 according to the new system and am a lifelong member of the Royal Golf du Hainaut in Erbisoeul, Mons (Mons). My question is as follows: I am an avid golfer and would like to know which golf courses there are within a 50 kilometer radius of Phrae. How does membership work for Europeans, especially Belgians? Is it possible to join a golf club and how much does an annual membership cost? Or do I always have to pay a green fee to play or practice on the driving range?
Model trains scale N
Are there any stores in Thailand where model train hobbyists can purchase materials? Which websites in Asia are useful for purchasing equipment? My digital layout will be shaped like the letter E. I only drive Belgian locomotives, passenger and freight wagons, and other equipment that is or was regularly seen on the Belgian rail network.
I look forward to your reactions to both hobbies. Thank you in advance!
Regards,
Andre

You can easily use Google Maps to see which golf courses there are.
Succes
There is a model train shop in JJ mall Bangkok near Chatchuchak weekend market.
Google maps is your friend here too.
Type 'golf course' and search in your area.
There don't seem to be many golf courses in Phrae.
The Chiang Mai area, on the other hand, is a lot more, but depending on where you are in Phrae, that is easily a 100 km or more drive…
As far as model trains are concerned, I can't help you any further. However, I recommend that you take a look at the shopping sites Lazada and Shopee…
Good luck with your move…

The nearest golf course is 80 km away and almost 2 hours away by car. If you are a member, you still have to pay the caddy fee. Membership often does not pay off and green fees are not that high.
Try downloading the app,,leading Courses,.
The app automatically searches for courses nearby. with the prices and possible sports days.
Sports days are days with an offer, complete package, green fee, caddy, car.
Here in Pattaya/Jomtien. I pay 1200bath for a package… Very reasonable price..
You can use this app all over the world…
Also easy for other readers of this topic…
Have fun golfing there in Thailand...

on this site https://www.auran.com/ can you make a track on a computer with all accessories i also have them trainz 2022 platium not expensive $60
Well, dear André,
Then I have to disappoint you, because with an hcp of 26.3 you will not be happy with the Wiang Kosai golf course of 9 hls. And the Mae Mo golf course, 120 km from Phrae, is part of the lignite mine and does not deserve a beauty prize. If you want fantastic golf around Chiangmai, you have to count on 400 km, there and back.
That's why I hope you have more fun with the model train hobby, because you can do it at home.
