New airport in Betong (Yala) opened in December
The Thai Ministry of Transport is ensuring that the new airport at Betong, in the far south of Thailand, can open on schedule in December. Secretary of State Thaworn says he wants to be sure that all ICAO technical and safety requirements are met.
Betong: Devious attack with two bombs
The perpetrators of Friday's Betong (Yala) bombing detonated not one but two bombs. The first, a small explosive, was intended to attract the curious, after which the second, a heavy bomb that exploded 10 minutes later, was to sow death and destruction.

A heavy car bomb has turned the center of Betong in the southern province of Yala into a war zone. Two people were killed in the explosion yesterday afternoon, at least forty people were injured and the damage to buildings and vehicles is enormous.
