The Test & Go program for vaccinated travelers who want to go to Thailand for a holiday will expire on May 1. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha announced this today.
The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) will make a decision on Friday about any further relaxation of the Covid entry conditions. A shorter quarantine period for unvaccinated foreign tourists and changes to testing policy are on the table.
Antigen test on arrival in Thailand is good news, isn't it?
I read that from May (probably) only an antigen test or rapid test will be taken at the airport. I think that is very good news because the chance that you test positive is still very small. Because I understand that those antigen tests are not very pure and give negative rather than false positive. Or am I making a mistake now?
'From May 1, entry rules to Thailand will be relaxed: Only antigen test (rapid test) on arrival'
As it now looks like, for foreign visitors, the PCR test with mandatory hotel booking for 1 day will disappear as of May 1.
'Introduction of antigen rapid test on arrival in Thailand doubtful due to Omicron variant'
The Thai government is considering suspending the decision to replace RT-PCR testing for fully vaccinated airline passengers with the rapid antigen test (ATK) due to the emergence of the Omicron mutation, Deputy Health Minister Satit Pitutacha said today.
Thailand is considering relaxing entry conditions such as a rapid test instead of PCR test on arrival
The Thai government is considering replacing the RT-PCR test with a Covid-19 rapid test for vaccinated tourists under the Test & Go scheme. In addition, they want to relax the rules in the event of close contact with infected fellow travelers. Now they have to quarantine when they have been near Covid-19 patients.
