Grand approach to Pattaya city

Pattaya Beach

In one of the previous postings, the changes or improvements of the city of Pattaya have already been mentioned. A cozy Jomtien Nightmarket flourished along the Jomtien Beach in the past. Unfortunately, the left part where people could relax and enjoy the sea and the evening events is now over. During the day a large partition has clearly been placed. The intent is unclear without further announcements.

Whoever thinks then but cozy to the Pattaya Beach will also be disappointed. The section from Soi 13 to the Walking Street has been completely overhauled on the sea side. It is a pity if one expects a sea view in a restaurant in that area. Interesting to follow the construction work. Maybe for the high season it will be ready from mid-November.

Another monument of demolition can be seen on Thepprasit Road. A complete square with a petrol filling station surrounded by all kinds of different businesses has been razed to the ground. What will come here is not yet known.

The main salient construction activities are now listed, with the previous events not yet completed.

Thepprasit Square

It is remarkable that a new building is planned near the Bali Hai Pier and Easy Cartbaan, “The Muse Balihai” with the special feature that the reception hall, the lobby, will be built seven meters high. In addition, a large outdoor terrace of 400 square meters, which is open daily, and several conference halls. On the 30e floor a “360 degree Skybar, which can be visited both inside and outside. The question is whether this will really be an asset. One does have a good overview of the nearby Waterfront Building.

What strikes me is that they always do this when the high season is approaching. Before the renewal of a few years ago, the beach road was almost every year with very large holes in the road in which a car could fit, demarcated in the evening with a weak ribbon. this also always happened at Christmas and New Year, people then had to zigzag and with large arcs around the craters, some with wheelchairs even got stuck.

How do you manage to plan it like this?

Oh yes, I don't think the renewal of the beach road is an improvement either, it may look neater, But the charm of the old beach road has disappeared, a lot of light, almost makes you look, all long benches have been removed, and the only public toilet (near bali pier) has also disappeared, I have complained to the Amphur many times but get no answer.

    Dear Lodewijk Lagemaat,

I went there the other day and was a 'junk.
For the first time in Thailand, I took a motorcycle taxi that drove against the traffic to my hotel.

Paid him 100 Bath why? Otherwise I had to pay the ticket.
A big mess and little farang which I now hear everywhere in Thailand.

Well it will bring an improvement but…

    Yours faithfully,

    Erwin
