The Dutch super heavyweight Ricardo van den Bos from Zwolle won the world title on Friday evening in Bali Hai (Pattaya).
He defeated American Marvin Eastmen Beastmen in the second round. The latter had to give up because he suffered a tear in his forehead. Injuries like this often happen as Thai rules allow knees and elbows to the head.
Ricardo, now well known in Thailand, received a standing ovation from the audience after his victory.
Ricardo was assisted by Murthel Groenhart and his father Loek van den Bos.
Another famous Dutchman Fred Sikking won
also a world title fight last Friday in Pattaya..
After he had already become Dutch champion in his class last year.

Muay Thai Super Fight Part VI
Muay Thai SuperFight Part VI June 14th, 2013 Dewey Cooper vs. Fred Siking
The days go back to Ramon Dekkers. Sadly died too early.
Now comes Ricardo van der Bos. He's doing it again. Muay Thai. the sport for our Thai friends. The Netherlands shows that they play a part in the so-called martial arts. The days also go back to that one Anton Geesink who was the great
Japanese champion knocked out. We need to get more appreciation for those people
who practice those sports. Training every day for years and then reaching the top.
Then also being compared to someone with a criminal background who severely beat people in a nightclub and eventually from the first best boxer
get knocked out of the ring. That's too bad.
As a Dutchman I am proud of those sports people.
Cor van Kampen.
I must be in a minority who find these “sports” disgusting. I was able to watch some fights at the Lumpini Stadium in Bangkok. Wonderful, beautiful “sporty” performance to hit each other in the face and vulnerable organs with knees and fists. Children who are reared to make a career out of it because otherwise the family would not have anything to eat, but then unfortunately become invalids for the rest of their lives.
Very similar to the "famous" (ufc?) cage fighting where the floor has to be mopped clean of blood after a few fights.
But as said, I belong to a minority, many people enjoy this mindless primal violence.
Comparisons with champions like Anton Geesink are flawed, completely different sports, where it is not about violence but about skill..
Proud that we Dutch have "kicked" it this far? ok... but more respect for running a marathon or someone who doesn't use his head to beat another up but just to win a game of chess. But yeah, that's boring to watch.
If you have not practiced this sport yourself, you do not know what you are talking about, it is indeed about technology such as boxing and judo, only ignorant people make these statements. To excel in this sport you have to train for years and you need an iron discipline. Would say first go and see a gym where these people train and have a chat with these ATHLETES, think you will quickly change your mind.
If you write that you have looked for parties in the lumpini stadium several times, it has taken you a very long time to form your opinion. I myself, if I felt the way you did, would have been outside after 10 minutes.
I have never seen athletes who were disabled for the rest of their lives because of this beautiful sport. Of course they are hard sports, but the competitions are only done by highly trained athletes. I can tell you that the injuries are not too bad and that blood on the floor is nothing compared to football, among other things.
I am sorry that you who know nothing about these beautiful sports have this opinion.
I hope the next time you write something about our sports, you will first delve into it a bit more.
Of course we respect your opinion, but I think it's a little short on the corner.
Well Ferdinand cage fighting is very different from Muay Thai, and about Judo etc.
What do you think the purpose of that sport is to give someone a nice massage.
That sport was once invented to get someone in a headlock KO instead of. with your fists or legs.
It only looks a little less intense, but the intention remains the same to eliminate your opponent
