Who is the Sandbox program for?

Dear readers,

My wife and I want to fly to Bangkok around April 20 and fly on after about 10 days to see our daughter there after almost 2 years. When I look up information about the entry conditions of Thailand, I read that there is a Test and Go program with 1 mandatory SHA+ booking (incl. PCR test) and a Sandbox program with a mandatory 5-day stay. If I test negative at Test & Go on arrival, can I still go wherever I want? So who is the Sandbox program for?

Regards,

Gust

With the (re)introduction of Test & Go last February, the Sandbox program has become more or less superfluous. Why would you be obliged to stay in a restricted area for 5 days if you can go wherever you want with Test&Go after the negative result of the 1st test?

Obv Test&Go you go directly after arrival Bangkok with pre-booked transport after your hotel. The PCR test is done in the hotel (or on the way there at a hospital or other test point). You then have to wait in the hotel room for the results. If it is negative you can go where you want.

I myself went to Thailand in February based on Test&Go and was able to travel on to Buriram after the negative result of the 1st test. At that time I had to do another PCR test on day 5 (and wait for the results again in a hotel room), but this 2nd PCR test has now been replaced by an Antigen self-test.

When booking the SHA++ hotel (test&go package including test and transport from the airport), ask carefully about the time they need to deliver the results. Some hotels indicate 24 hours and that means that you have to wait for your hotel room for 24 hours! There are also hotels that promise 6 hours or less. In my experience, they do! You will then be able to leave your hotel room much faster and be free to go wherever you want!

I read, “Test and Go program is with 1 mandatory SHA+ booking (incl. PCR test) and a Sandbox program with mandatory 5-day stay. If I test negative at Test & Go on arrival,”

People don't want any pre-dated idiocy called another program.
People have their own program and not Thailand's.
Accommodation that tourism is completely on its ass and it will stay there for a long time, at least as long as people don't stop with this theater.
