Reader question: Which beaches in the south are less crowded?
Dear readers,
We are real beach lovers, but we don't feel like crowds of tourists. We especially enjoy the peace. Are there still beaches in the south of Thailand that are fairly unspoilt and without ugly buildings?
Who has a nice tip?
Regards,
Alfons
Khanom (Nakhon Sri Tammaraat).
Dear Alfons,
what do you mean by the “South”? The Middle South, the Deep South? Which side do you have in mind? Andaman Sea side or Gulf of Thailand side? How pristine and quiet do you want it? When do you wish to come to Thailand and for how long? If you want miles of beach for just you, then there is no problem. Places was right here in my backyard and, that is Chumphon province. But keep in mind that it is VERY quiet and you will need to have your own transport. In these unspoilt, quiet places there is no public transport or taxis and you have to rely entirely on your own transport. If you would like more information, please provide more details about your wishes or contact me if necessary.
If you dare, Songkhla is a beautiful town, quiet and a fairly clean and deserted beach.
Is not recommended by Min BUZA.
I myself have been coming there for 30 years, on average 3-4 times a year.
Quiet and deserted during the day, by 17 pm the locals come to have a picnic on the beach.
Take a look at Tak Bai in Narathiwat province. Quiet beaches and no other tourists.
2 words:
ko lipe
We take our customers to layan beach in phuket just like on the postcard.ril
Quiet and pristine
Well,
Around Chumphon airport (I don't know the name of the beach), but check Google maps
Beautiful beach and hardly any people.
Greetings Gerrit
Hi Alfons, go to Koh Jum (also called Koh Pu). 5 km beach with nothing on it. Not much to do. Very calm. Don't tell any further. Various bungalow parks, from simple to chic. Check it out.
We have been coming to Joy bungalows on the south side of the island for 16 years. Often full. Bit tricky to get there. Best from Krabi airport to Laem Kruat and boat (5x day, 1 hour sailing) Or ferry from Krabi to Koh Lanta (also nice but much busier) and after approx. 1 hour transfer to longtail. We are Jan. and Feb. in bungalow 11. Regards Rene.
Krabi province offers beautiful beaches. Some are more crowded, but there are also very quiet beaches. It is still not mass tourism. And it is not fully built up with high/large hotels. A bit of a disadvantage, but you will find that in more areas: low tide is really low tide.
Nice places are: Ao Nang, Klong Muang, Tub Kaek. Many beaches are accessible by boat, such as Raleigh Beach. I always go to the southern part of the beach in Ao Nang. Wonderfully quiet, but not boring. For example, this beach is pictured here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ao_Nang
There are certainly still beautiful quiet islands, such as Ko Lipe and Ko Lanta
General. East of Jomtien (Pattaya) and Krabi. West of Phuket.
So not the appropriate places. Same as in the Netherlands. Zandvoort and Scheveningen are busier than Edgmond and Bergen aan Zee.

little tourism except for the full moon party. beautiful beaches and old thai style. can be found on koh phanang. i have been coming there for 3 years now. just awesome
Alfie,
One of the most beautiful and quiet pristine beach is undoubtedly KO LIPE in the Andaman see.
Best accessible via Hat yai airport. (1hr 30 domestic flight from BKK)
This is an island in the south of Thailand, which I read in your travel wishes is the best for you.
Take a look at the photos that can be found via google.
Have a nice trip, Ivo
on koh lanta the klong nin beach is really a relief, beautiful and wide sandy beach!! and surprisingly quiet, and everywhere on the beach good and cozy food highly recommended !!
We have been to Yao Beach once. If you speak of a beautiful deserted beach, then this is one. Chao Mai Resort is a good place to stay. The highlight of the day is mooring the ferry to and from Koh Lipe and Koh Lanta. Rest and more rest. Located 50km from Trang Airport, with three connections per day to Bangkok. Or the ferry from Koh Lanta. ( three o'clock).
Khanom on the mainland about 30 km from the pier to Koh Samui, there you also have a colony of pink dolphins, and Khao lak, there you have many very quiet beautiful beaches and you can do an excursion to the Similan Islands and on Kho lanta you also have beautiful quiet beaches, especially on Koh Lanta noi.
We went to Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi this year. Very quiet and few tourists.
We also go to Koh Lanta every year where there are beautiful beaches, especially in the south of the island.
From Hua hin to the south only peace and little tourism as much as you want.
Have fun and enjoy it,
Mart
The time when Koh Lipe was quiet is long gone, Lipe is almost fully built up and if you now want to book a hotel for January, for example, you don't have much choice anymore, so don't say that Koh Lipe is quiet indeed as suggested above under Huahin you can still find many deserted beaches and also the area around Ao Nang
