Racha noi island, Phuket, Thailand

Phuket may not be the cheapest destination in Thailand, but you have many dazzlingly beautiful ones beaches. Every beach lover will get his money's worth here. Whether you are looking for peace and privacy, romance, crowds, entertainment or a beautiful snorkeling spot, you will find it on Phuket.

It is even possible to get lost in all the possibilities. Almost every hotel offers accommodations near the legendary beaches of this Thai island. However, if you are looking for a more specific beach, you will find that there are many differences. One beach is more suitable for families and the other offers unlimited snorkeling. Thailandblog therefore lists some options for you.

Phuket and its beaches

There are many different beaches in Phuket, including some of the most popular and busy beaches on the island, as well as quiet, secluded beaches where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the tourist hotspots. Patong Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Phuket. This is a busy and lively beach with many hotels, restaurants, shops and bars along the promenade. It is a popular place for swimming, snorkeling, surfing and other water activities. Another popular beach in Phuket is Karon Beach. This is a long, wide beach with fine, white sand and clear blue water. Like Patong Beach, it is also a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling and other water activities. Karon Beach also has many hotels, restaurants and shops along the promenade.

For something a little quieter, head to Nai Harn Beach. This is a beautiful, secluded beach with clear blue water and fine, white sand. It is a popular spot among local tourists and has fewer hotels and restaurants than some of the other beaches in Phuket. Another option is Kamala Beach. This is a quiet and pristine beach with a beautiful view of the Andaman Sea. It is a popular place for swimming, snorkeling and other water activities. Kamala Beach also has some good restaurants and bars along the beach. Phuket has some secluded beaches, such as Bang Tao Beach and Pansea Beach. These beaches are less crowded and offer the perfect place to enjoy nature.

Most popular beach in Phuket

Patong Beach is perhaps the most famous – and most visited – beach in Phuket. Some even claim that this is the most popular beach in all of Thailand. It offers a wide, white sand beach and warm clear waters with plenty of activities for all ages. On Patong, you can relax in the sand or soar above the water on a parasail. You can also rent a jet ski or a banana boat for even more water fun. Patong is most popular with young people who visit the clubs along the beach as soon as it gets dark. But you will also find families and older people on the beach.

Best beach for the family

Families who are not looking for an exuberant beach party or a massive and vibrant nightlife are better off going to Kata Beach. Here you will find a white sandy beach with a calm rippling sea in a beautiful bay.

Most of the hotels and resorts at Kata are a short walk from the beach, making it ideal for families with children. You can do a number of activities here, including a longtail boat trip or parasailing. However for the most part this area is quiet and relaxed. Ideal for families with or without small children who can play in the powdery white sand or swim in the clear blue water under parental supervision.

Mai Khao beach

Best beach for privacy and romance

If you are looking for privacy and tranquility, the Mai Khao beach on the northwest coast of the island is recommended. As part of a national park, with only one hotel (the JW Marriott) in the immediate vicinity, Mai Khao is the best place for peace seekers. The 11 kilometer long beach has coarser sand than the rest of the beaches in the area. The sea there is not ideal for swimming as it is quite deep during the monsoon season, but the area is perfect for privacy and romance.

Another alternative is the Bang Tao beach. You will then have to continue to the northern end of the 6km stretch. Here you will find few people and a lot of privacy.

Most scenic beach

Bang Tao is known for its natural beauty and spectacular sunsets, but other beaches are just as beautiful. Nai Thon, for example, is a beautiful and quiet resort even in high season – just as beautiful as the beach itself. On the way to Nai Thon from the south, you will drive through a jungle and along a scenic coast, the northern route will take you through the village and a green valley. Banana Beach, is located between the beaches of Bang Tao and Nai Thon. It's a hidden gem. Although small (only about 180 m long) this beach is still worth seeing. It is surrounded by trees and therefore not easy to find.

Kamala Beach

Best beach for snorkeling and diving

One of the main reasons visitors come to Phuket is for the snorkeling. A number of beaches offer easy access to special reefs.

Kamala Beach, for example, is perfect for snorkeling. You should then be the north end of the beach. From Rawai Beach you can take a boat trip to Koh Lone or Racha Island for some of the best snorkeling on Phuket. Nai Yang Beach – the most secluded beach on the island – at the northern end of the beach offers access to Sirinath National Park and a protected reef for snorkelling

With so many beaches on Phuket, you can go in all directions. So don't stay in one place, but go on a journey of discovery to the beach of your dreams. You will undoubtedly also find your own paradise.
