Dear readers,

Is it possible to send corona rapid tests to Thailand with PostNL? As far as we know, the rapid test is not yet available in Thailand.

Regards,

Alex

Alex, you can send almost anything with PostNL. I think it is better to look at the material instead of PostNL.

These tests are reliable at a certain temperature. If the package is waiting for a weekend in a sweltering customs warehouse or a warm local post office, the test may be unreliable. There are also requirements with regard to the hygiene to be observed. Can the recipient of the package read the instructions?

Parcels must be shipped with a customs form CN23. What do you put on it as content? Sending medical material may be subject to conditions. Consult the site of Thai customs for this.

Hello, June 2021. I sent 10 self-tests (Post NL) to Surin, 3 weeks later the package was delivered to her house. July 2021 I sent another 18 self-test with Post NL, now today 13-08-2021 (4 weeks later). mail (in Surin) arrived at home, with the message to collect the package (assume self-test) in Chong Chom. (60 km far from place of residence) So not delivered to home. I did NOT send the first package by registered mail, but I did send the second package. I think that is the reason why the package needs to be picked up. I HOPE. 555.

Chong Chom has a customs office. Suriname not? Then I think people would like to take a look at the package and/or stick a note on it…..

Some time ago I think I read on this blog that the self-test is for sale in Thailand at Boots, know that this was not your question, but it may be of some use to you

Rapid test is simply for sale at most clinics. So why send from the Netherlands?

  5. JJ says up

"Tig" mailbox boxes sent to Thailand in the past 2 months.
Get a box that fits right through the letterbox (at Makro: € 3,99 / 5 pieces ex VAT).
Here go 17 to 18 of those sets, because it is wise to stay under 350 g (boxes as sold in the store here, nobody is waiting for that). No track & trace, because it only works in NL anyway. AND brings the postal costs to € 23,-
I put in a scan of the Makro invoice (or Dirk, or Lidl or Action), and wrote on the address sticker: “test kit, 15x, free of charge gift, for customs: € 14,99 see invoice inside”
    Costs Post.nl: € 11,-
Didn't open a single package, didn't ask for anything.

After 2 1/2 weeks in Thailand: Ratchaburi, Bankkok, Chiang Mai.

    Use: https://www.aconlabs.com/sars-cov-2-antigen-rapid-test/

Asked at Thai Customs, but they respond as if you want to import the lot per dozen containers and distribute it to all 7-11s, Tescos, papa&mama shops, etc. Can't explain to them that it concerns a box of 15-18 pieces. (so clearly can't find form XYZ in the chest of drawers, which says that something so simple can continue; own initiative to find something out ... Thai style !)

Thai customs: too difficult to understand the question… Go ahead with an application in the official circus in Thailand.
Two other documents did fall open, so they just sent them to me, without even the faintest notion of what it is about. (as usual in TH)

    Dear Harry Romijn

With regard to your inquiry, in order to a permit will be in accordance with FDA 's regulation and if the products are allowed from FDA, that means an importer/receiver can import the items into Thailand normally.
In part of the calculation of duty for goods imported into the Kingdom shall be in accordance with a nature of the goods, a customs value, a corresponding customs tariff and a duty rate at the time of the completion of importation. Therefore, we would like to suggest an importer/receiver to search the HS-Code, the import duty the description, and calculate the import duty by themselves as below process.
In addition, actually no decisions on payment of Customs duties and taxes can be made on the product until the items arrive at the port/place of clearance and all relevant information is given to the Thai Customs Department. Therefore, we are unable to inform the exact detail regarding the calculation, but we can explain corresponding how to calculate as the process on previous email only.

2nd message, after having indicated again that it was a personal gift, worth approximately € 15:
Referring to your inquiry, we would like to inform the additional information that we have attached the notification of Customs and Ministry of Public Health regarding the exemption of import duty for the covid-19 pandemic situation, but all details are provided in Thai language only. If the case doesn't match the rule, an importer/receiver has to pay the import duty as normal.

However, in case where importer/receiver in Thailand has any questions or concerns, please inform she/he to directly contact us for checking more details. (Customs Call Center at Tel:1164)

Has been for sale in Thailand for about a month. Good pharmacy or as written above also at Boots. It is slightly more expensive than in the Netherlands, but sending by post from the Netherlands is certainly not cheap and with all the associated risks. Just get it in Thailand

it was in BKK-Post this morning:
The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has postponed its procurement of 8.5 million antigen test kits, each costing 70 baht, to test their quality after their ability to detect Covid-19 infections was cast into doubt.

The postponement came after the Rural Doctors Society's statement on Thursday that the GPO had based the selection on price, not on the quality and accuracy of the test kits.

So at that price I wouldn't ship from Europe anyway
