Dear readers,

After my flight with EVA Air was canceled in November last year due to Corona, this experience repeated itself this week when the same airline had to cancel its scheduled flights until 2022 due to limited passenger offer due to Corona.

So now I have to book a replacement airline, but with which one do I have the least chance that my flight will be canceled for the 3rd time during this October/November period?

What does the reader think of this?

Regards,

Khaki

I booked my flight from Bangkok to Amsterdam a few weeks ago.

To find out which flights on this route are the most canceled, I went through the Suvarnabhumi website of departing flights. KLM turned out to be the best. Eg Finnair was canceled regularly.

My advice: take a direct flight with a company that has departure or arrival as its home port, a company that is not in dire straits (think of Thai Airways) and of course take a flexible ticket as a matter of course.

Qatar, Emirates or Lufthansa and in that order.

The rest, including KLM, cancel when it suits them.

In addition, these airlines were the only ones that could and were allowed to continue flying at the time of Thailand's lock down last year.
If you play it safe, you choose Lufthansa with its affiliated airlines such as Swiss and Austria so that 100% every day a flight departs from Germany, Austria or Switzerland with departure from Amsterdam and a transfer in the mentioned countries. Another reason why cancellations are not made is that European companies are obliged to pay compensation to travelers in the event of a cancellation or flight delay. And another important reason is that the home area covered is 100 million people and therefore a 5x to 6x greater chance of bookings based on 1 departure per day in Germany (+ Austria and Switzerland) compared to 1 departure from the Netherlands with a home to 17 million people.

I don't believe that KLM cancels when it suits them, after all, in the event of a cancellation without necessity, it costs KLM 600 Euro per person, KLM will then try to transfer you and then I think most likely to Lufthansa, a delay of one few hours costs less compensation. Think that KLM makes a decision and knows when a flight is profitable compared to the extra compensation they pay, and then you can think that there are too few passengers and freight.

See response from Dutch Red Hering; flight 16 October canceled. And such has already been reported by others. Not flying (cost tens of thousands of euros in fuel, not counting personnel) can be cheaper despite compensation.

Lufthansa flies daily with an A340 (unusual, not exactly an economical aircraft), but I find it sensitive to strikes. Especially when the economy picks up again and the collective labor agreements expire next spring.

Non-European airlines are also subject to EU compensation legislation when it comes to a flight from the EU, so your reasoning is not entirely valid.

    KLM

During the last 15 months I flew back and forth between the Netherlands and Thailand several times. With Qatar Airways. Always on time, no cancellations, not expensive and perfect service. There is a transfer in Doha, 2,5 hours. I find that enjoyable because I hate sitting on a plane for 12 hours straight. Moreover, as a retiree I have all the time in the world. It is best to book directly on the Qatar website. Oh yes, free rebooking if something goes wrong. Good luck

      Not always James,

My girlfriend was supposed to leave for Bangkok with Qatar today (Sun 03-10). Canceled on 16/09 due to 'operational reasons'.
They proposed to book tomorrow's flight, but because today is her 90th day in 'Schengen', I first consulted with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee whether that would be a problem.

    KLM.
Easily accessible by telephone. Excellent service.
I had to postpone my flights. No problem.
    Quickly converted to new data.
Direct flight. No hassle when transferring, that one of the two flights is cancelled.

We have booked with KLM for week 3 of October after Eva's cancellation. Fortunately, no counter-message has been received yet.

Haki, just book with Emirates, never had any problems with it.

Thai Airways just flies again and is very reliable from Brussels

      Well Ari,
      It's not that simple either.
Were/are on the verge of bankruptcy and moreover have not flown for 13 months.
Even in Thailand, Thai Airways has made a mess of it!

How do you get to that, if an airline is in trouble, it's Thai Airways.
If you're going to fly with that, you're asking for trouble. Just fly with KLM or Emirates, then you will at least arrive at your destination.

Thai airways will fly back to Brussels 1 times from 2 November and 17 times a week from 4 November.

    Other experience:
KLM has canceled the flight from Bangkok to Amsterdam on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Customer service via Whatsapp, Messenger, telephone in Amsterdam, telephone in Thailand unreachable for days

There are several that are reliable and I think ETIHAD is one of the best!!!!
    Also very honest and reliable.

KLM always flies, even if they go to Bangkok with an empty plane, they go!

I had sent KLM Whats App last Thursday. Get a response this morning (Sunday, 3 days later!). So I have now booked another one.
