Reader question: How do I get from Cambodia to Bangkok?
Dear readers,
Have been staying in Cambodia for several months now. Have a return ticket for the Netherlands on July 12 from Bangkok. It looks like the flight is about to take place.
The problem, however, is: how do I get there? No flights or buses from here due to Corona. Who knows what to do?
Regards,
Maurice
Currently the problem is that you simply can't get into Thailand - that's why there are no flights and buses. Taking a taxi to the nearest border crossing does not provide a solution if the 'gate' remains closed. Unless something changes on the Thai side in the short term, I'm afraid the trip to Bangkok will not be possible for the time being.
– Follow the local Thai authorities via Office of International Cooperation,DDC MOPH
– If you find yourself in an emergency abroad, we would like to refer you to the 24/7 BZ ContactCenter, which can be reached 24 hours a day on +31 247 247 247.
Hope this helps you but in any case you can't enter Thailand for the time being !!! whether the situation should change on July 1 and probably 2 weeks in quarantine at your own expense.
Is there a place in the region (Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta?) from which KLM also flies?
And where you can fly from Cambodia, so as not to enter the country in question, but to transfer immediately?
Changing the KLM ticket should be possible without costs - but everything then depends on the possibility to fly out of Cambodia.
Success and strength!
Go to a border town with a large so-called Border Maket, in some places you can walk into Thailand via the Market, for example, Pom nam rom, Chantaburi province. At Khlong yai you can walk straight into the evening 5000 bth.
Bad advice. Later you will have problems at the airport, because you don't have a Thai Immigration stamp in your passport.
With all due respect for the creative solution, just a question here, do you buy your visa from and visa in stamps on the same market?
So not now……… But suppose it did work, then you have a problem with Immigration at Suvarnabhumi because you entered illegally. Doesn't seem like good advice to me.
And do you have a stamp in your passport? If not, you will more than likely have problems catching the plane home in BKK!
I must admit that I am not 100% informed, but it was still possible to take the boat to Phuket and from there to Bkk? Without quarantine. But don't quote me on that
And where is the entrance stamp that proves that you have entered Thailand legally?
You cannot enter the country, even with quarantine.
You can inquire where you can fly from Phnom Phen.
Then contact the company with which you have a return flight to NL and inquire whether you can make the return via another airport, under what conditions.
If you cannot fly, you may be entitled to a refund.
Other possible solution.
Travel to Hanoi (can also be easily reached by land from Cambodia) and fly with Qatar to A'dam, which currently costs around 12 euros on 700 July.
Contacting the Embassy is never a bad idea in that situation
The KLM – BKK flight to Amsterdam departs from Manila. Bangkok is a stopover for the time being. So maybe try to get to Manila, of course in consultation with KLM.
KLM still flies from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam and also Singapore-Amsterdam.
So try to get there. For example, I see flights from Cambodia to SGP
I think buy a ticket and stay in transit in Bangkok because then you will not officially enter Thailand. If KLM has a flight from Cambodia to Suvarnabhumi I would try that first because booking with the same me gives you more options. Or expand your existing ticket, just consult with KLM.
Success.
You can't do that, you can't stay in transit at Suvarnabhumi under the current rules unless you're on board a plane making a stopover. And KLM does not fly to Cambodia, let alone from Pnomh Pen to Bangkok……….
I think there is only 1 legal way to come to the Netherlands. As previous responses said, you must have a stamp on BKK that you were in Thailand. You don't have one, so that's a bad idea. What I think you should do is the following: You go to PP and from there planes legally go to China, then you have an exit stamp. At the nearest Chinese airport you can book a trip to Amsterdam via China Eastern, which belongs to the same alliance as KLM. You can ask KLM in advance to rebook your ticket from China to Amsterdam. I hope it is of some use for you. Have a nice trip
China has an entry ban for almost all foreigners, even if they already have a valid visa.
Mauritius
You can also fly from Phnom Phen to Kuala Lumpur with asia air on July 11 for 121 $.
First inquire whether KLM is willing to accept this arrangement and under what additional conditions, i.e. costs.
Check first if you will be allowed in - there are quite a few restrictions:

Oops, that also applies to Singapore: https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/documenten/vragen-en-antwoorden/reisadvies-singapore
Even transit is not possible
Stamped on the date you want, cambodians in chantaburi go home every week and come back too; they don't pay a 5000 special farang price!!!
Just take the bus via Poi pet or down in Cambodia by boat to Trat.
Still not understood that you can't enter Thailand?
Well, can you tell me exactly which boat? Have lived in Trat for a long time and don't know the “down in Cambodia by boat to Trat”.
The best possible is to fly from Phon Phen to BKK https://www.skyscanner.net/routes/pnh/bkkt/phnom-penh-to-bangkok.html
Good luck Caspar
Caspar, you are not entering Thailand……..
Can't rent a car from Hertz or Avis?
The team,
The borders are still closed for both countries!!!! Only goods transport is allowed through from Thailand to Cambodia and vice versa. What do you want to do there with a rental car?
