Reader question: High prices for implants and crowns at Dental World Pattaya?
Posted in Reader question
Tags: Dental World Pattaya, Implant, Crown, Pricing, dentist
Dear readers,
I am busy collecting information for implants and crowns, but after a quotation at Dental World Pattaya, the prices are still disappointing!
An implant + a crown come to 40.000 to 55.000 Baht! That comes to around 1.250 euros. No additional costs are included yet.
I have four quotations from dentists within a maximum travel distance of 3 hours from the Netherlands for the same. An implant + a crown with guidance here in the Netherlands for 900 euros!
I think this difference is extreme I must say. Does anyone have addresses where it is not as pricey as at Dental World in Pattaya?
Otherwise Hungary or Turkey is closer and cheaper!
Regards,
Jacks
That is indeed very expensive. We paid 3 Baht in Bangkok 13000 years ago.
I have 2 crowns, 1 x 19.000 Thb of gold and 1 x 8.000 thb of plain standard.
I didn't want the gold one, but the dentist insisted that was better in that place, material is more flexible.
Luckily it sits in the back of the mouth so you can't see it.
Also informed for an implant, but then you are still talking about an 80-90.000 thb.
There often has an article about Thai dentists here on TB would be nice to give an update. And by that I don't mean reposting that funny column about the release of dental rates in the Netherlands and the associated reactions, but an update on the rates and service of the various dentists in different regions / places.
Previously I had everything done to my mouth in Thailand was advantageous. Should even send it to my health insurance company since I am also insured for dental costs. Now you can only declare when you have been and then they can still refuse. I also noticed that the difference was not much for me, so if it is not okay there, you cannot go back to Holland.
Dear, I have been to Turkey twice this year for 4 implants and a crown price of 3000 euros. Hotels per day from 20 euros and close to the clinic ... in Istanbul. For about 150 euros you can go there and back.. you need an implant. about 12 days there...then 3 months later for the screw and crown 3 weeks...it's worth going there..Regards Ron
My wife had 8 porcelain implants placed at what was, after research, the best clinic in the Netherlands.
In total, the treatment lasted 14 months, of which 2 times under anesthesia, a total of € 40.000, perfect result and an eternal guarantee.
Given the number of actions, including promoting bone growth in the jaw first, making a preliminary product, etc., I would never have implants placed in Thailand, Turkey or Hungary.
A friend who has had this done in Thailand now has a few holes instead of implants.
Price is not the only thing to consider.
There are implants and implants and I am not only referring to the material, but also to the construction and the brand. In principle, each brand is characterized by its own construction and you cannot (always?) connect the lower part of brand X and the upper part of brand Y. If a dentist uses an implant of a small, unknown brand, you run the risk that a new crown cannot be screwed on later. That may be necessary if the old crown has broken off for some reason. This happened to me once with the necessary misery afterwards. Since then I don't just pay attention to the price anymore.
Some dentists place an implant very easily. This is certainly a matter of craftsmanship. Fortunately, I have a dentist here who is well aware of the many sinus problems I have. He therefore always has me check with the ENT doctor in advance whether it is okay to place an implant in my upper jaw (adjacent to a sinus). If necessary, the dentist first thickens the bone before placing the implant. It is and remains an intervention and I prefer to be guided by knowledge and skills than just by the price.
I once had an etching bridge placed after my front tooth and root were broken in an accident. Costs at the time in Spain were 99 euros. It has been perfect for years and cannot be distinguished from the real thing. Unless you have a lot of money, I can't really appreciate these kinds of amounts for teeth. But not everyone thinks this way and you don't hear dentists complaining.
I need to get an extreme incisor done. Costs around 40.000 Baht at the military hospital of Pranburi.
Have had 1998 crowns and 5 implants placed in Thailand to full satisfaction over a period since 3. All at Bankok Smile Dental Clinics on Asoke (Sukhumvit Soi 21) in Bangkok. ( http://www.bangkoksmiledental.com/ ) The last implant in 2016 with the crown in Jan. “17.
At the time it was considerably cheaper in Thailand, and the costs were fully within my Dutch insurance reimbursement. The last time it doesn't matter much, paid a total of € 1.550,00 incl. extras such as anesthesia, x-rays, etc. Because the treatment was spread over two years, I was able to receive 2x € 500,00 from my insurance. Ergo (always) everything without complications, infections, etc, for net € 550,00. No, not really cheaper than in NL, but with a lot of friendliness, service and of course a holiday.
I've had many crowns put in.
Now another 12000 bath has to be placed at a very good clinic in Phuket town.
Only a root canal treatment and that cost expensive 1000 baht
everything very professional.
I had it checked in the Netherlands and found it very good.
So good in fact that their crowns now also come from Thailand.
Greetings Rob
Dear Rob, I also had a root canal treatment done here in Ostend Belgium and that cost me 365 euros and had to go back in Sept, but I canceled the appointment. Will have this done in Nov. in Hua Hin price between 3500 /8000 Bath. So I wouldn't complain about the 1000 baths.
Hi Eddie
Sorry my mistake it was 10.000 bath .
A zero is nothing.
Gr Rob
This year I underwent 2 root canal treatments at the Dental Clinic in Nakhon Nayok and had 4 new crowns placed. That cost me a total of 84,000 baht. About 2,200 euros. I think the dentist is better than my dentist in the Netherlands. It is a professional who explains to me every time on the basis of the x-rays what he is going to do and how he is going to treat me. All treatments in consultation and explanation in the English language. So far I am very satisfied and the price seems reasonable to me.
Dirk do you have information about this dental practice?
It's in the city itself?
€ 40.000 for 8 implants seems quite a bit to me.. this is € 5000/each.
I know an implant only costs a few hundred euros…so how do they get there
that amount ??
You could also go for 3M Midi implants, which are a one-piece implant of 2.8 mm
diameter, they screw it in in 15 minutes.
Peter.
inquire in Poland
I always go to dental smile in jomtien. If you come from thappraya road towards beach the first dentist on the liner side. Pay 10000 bath for a crown. Good service and speak good english.
Jules
Jules, So before the arch on thappraya road itself?
Dear Jack,
Last April I was helped with a bridge twice with 2 crowns and a loose crown. Including tooth extraction and root canal treatment, the cost was 3 Baht, 48000 Baht per crown plus costs. a total of 6000 crowns placed. On November 7 I will be going back for a longer period of time and having 13 implant done. Unfortunately, I cannot provide you with any information about the implant as she (female dentist) does not do implants. During my last visit she indicated that a colleague friend could take care of this, but I will hear this in November.
The practice is located on Soi Kao Talo in the East Side of Pattaya.
Practice name is Arunroj. and is located on the right a little over a kilometer after the railway crossing and opposite a small market.
A few years ago I also asked for advice on this blog and this practice was recommended to me. So Lodewijk, thanks again!!!
