On land, on water and in the air

Opinions are very divided about Pattaya and whatever you may think of it, one thing is certain, there is a lot to experience. You really won't die of thirst and there are plenty of restaurants in all price ranges.

Are you a bit sporty and would you like to see the beach from the air; it's all possible in Pattaya

Parasailing

You put on shorts or swimming trunks, walk into the sea and let yourself be tied into a harness with a long, sturdy rope and a kind of parachute. A speedboat pulls you out of the water with full force and dangling under the parachute, the boat pulls you around a few times and you enjoy the view over the beach and sea, not to mention the immense sensation. Parasailing is called something like that. After a few laps, the driver of the boat slows down and lands you neatly and slowly near the beach. Of course you make sure someone takes some pictures of you as you fly through the skies like a true free bird high up in the air.

Encore

If the boatswain likes you very much, you can even get an encore and the sensation will be brought to the top. Lying lazily and half asleep in an easy chair on the beach of Jomtien, I wake up with a start from the screams of people around me. I quickly notice what is going on because everyone is staring in the air at a parasailer that does not seem to land on the beach or in the sea, but high up in a tree on the boulevard. His parachute hangs in a high light pole and mister sailer hangs high in the top of the tree (see photo below). From the looks of things, there is nothing wrong with the man in question. It is a tinted young man who has turned pale from fright.

Brandweer

After a few alarming phone calls, the fire truck arrives three quarters of an hour later with a retractable ladder to free the young man from his plight. That also takes some time, because the parachute hangs torn at the top of the light pole and the ropes are entangled around the branches of the tree. The number of spectators is now growing and applaud with a certain regularity when a few branches are cut from the tree. The two firefighters eventually manage to free the young man from his awkward position and take him down in the tub attached to the end of the ladder mechanism.

Applaus

The applause that resounds must be intended for the firefighters. Photographers are at the ready with their cameras to capture the suddenly famous parasailer on camera. And then something happens that no one expected. The boy jumps out of the tub and runs away with two friends as fast as he can. We should leave flying to real pilots and to the birds.

  1. TH.NL says up

A nice story. I think the fact that the boys run away quickly has to do with the damage that has been done and the costs of the fire brigade.

  2. Franky R . says up

Striking story. I also hung on such a “parachute” when I was on holiday in Pattaya and although the beginning was quite rough, I enjoyed it.

When I read Joseph's story like this, I think that the speedboat sailed very close to the coast, the towing cables are a lot longer these days or the municipality has placed the light poles on the Beach Road right on the beach?

    Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
