Thailand will stop covid-1 testing for vaccinated foreign tourists from May 19

The Test & Go program for vaccinated travelers who want to go to Thailand for a holiday will expire on May 1. Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha announced this today.
Vaccinated visitors are no longer tested for Covid-19 upon arrival. It is only recommended that they self-test using antigen testing kits during their stay. If they tested positive, get treatment themselves, says CCSA spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin. The mandatory hotel booking for 1 day will also be cancelled.
Unvaccinated travelers are welcome if they can provide proof of a negative PCR test (up to 72 hours old). However, unvaccinated travelers must be quarantined for five days and a PCR test will be taken again on day 4 or 5. They are also advised to do an antigen test themselves during their stay.
The minimum Covid-19 insurance coverage for all foreign arrivals will be US$1 effective May 10.000. The Thailand Pass will be maintained.

Excellent news! The Thailand Pass is apparently only there for collecting the vaccination certificate and the Covid insurance. It would have been better if they had also stopped because people will still drop out for that reason, I think. But at least it's going in the right direction.
If I read correctly, does this mean that the PCR test, 72 hours before departure to Thailand, then returns to the list of requirements? Wasn't this recently deleted or am I not understanding it enough?
I mean, of course, for unvaccinated people. The requirements regarding vaccinated, they are completely clear to me.
If you do a test before you go as an unvaccinated person, you don't have to go into quarantine and you can continue right away.
I think it is clearly stated that you have to be quarantined for 5 days and have to undergo a 2nd PCR test.
But that's not right. That was the conclusion of Bangkok Post, but the Thai text says either a PCR test or quarantine. A negative pcr test gives you direct access to Thailand
Will I be curious if I will get the amount of the hotel booking back on May 15?
Don't need a night in the hotel anymore and can go straight to my destination, we'll see.
Are you sure about this, I just called the Thai embassy in The Hague and they told me that this has not yet been confirmed by the Thai government. So I'll wait a while before booking.
It is certain if it is in the Royal Gazette, but if the final boss, the general himself, has given Prayut a blow, then you can assume that it is. It seems logical to me that the officials at the embassy do not yet confirm that, that is what they are for. They only move when the boss has told them to.
This is pretty official: https://thainews.prd.go.th/en/news/detail/TCATG220422191747695
The Embassies do not play any role in the Thailand Pass procedure.
Well, they have to know the rules and agreements.
