Home » News from Thailand » Thai Airways International is considering postponing flights until August 1
It seems like old news because we already knew this, but Thai Airways International has announced that it is considering postponing its flights until August 1. According to CEO Pirapan, this decision has not yet been finalized.
First of all, the commercial consequences of suspending flights for another month will be examined. The postponement helps THAI better prepare when the ban on international flights is lifted by the CAAT. Originally, it was expected to resume on July 1.
The news is that when THAI starts flying again, the number of flights will be reduced to save costs, according to a source. The number of flights to Singapore will go from several times a day to 4 a week. There will also be fewer flights to major cities, including Tokyo.
Flights to Italy, Moscow, Vienna, Oslo, Stockholm, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai, Kathmandu and Colombo will not resume, but it is not yet clear whether they will be canceled permanently.

Bangkok – Thai Airways International will resume international flights on 1 routes from August 37, one month later than originally planned.
The flag carrier plans to resume service on 26 routes, including to and from Paris, New Delhi, Guangzhou and Frankfurt.
Connections on the Beijing, Brisbane and Brussels routes will resume on August 2, followed by connections to Auckland and Jakarta the next day. The date of resumption of flights to Milan, Rome, Moscow, Vienna, Stockholm, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai, Kathmandu, Oslo and Colombo will be announced.
I would like to know when the flights to Amsterdam will be resumed because my girlfriend would like to come to the Netherlands

Thai Airways hasn't been flying to Amsterdam for years, has it?
I only believe this when it happens. !!
I have also read this info, but would still take it with caution.
That Thai resumes its flights would be fantastic news, but wait and see which countries are welcome and which are not, would depend on the corona cases in the countries that want to fly to Bkk.
Then also afraid to wait and see what the conditions will be to be allowed in.
(quarantine, Covid19 test, special travel insurance, etc…).
So I wait with a scared heart and hope, that's all you can do at the moment.
We already booked for 4 adults to Bangkok last year and it was canceled ice-cold. Haven't heard anything for months... airbnb ditto. 5000€ down the drain. Say good evening.
The fact that Thai Airways postpone all their flights until August 1 seems to me to be the logical consequence of the fact that most foreigners do not yet enter Thailand in July anyway.
Even if the borders remain closed to many foreigners in August, it does not seem to me to be a lucrative activity to fly through the airspace with half-occupied aircraft.
We have rebooked our trip to next summer. Sitting bound
to the school holidays. Unfortunately nothing can be done about it.
Dear all, the headline of this article reads: “Thai Airways International considers postponing flights until August 1. The meaning of considering is, among other things, thinking about whether you want to do something or not. The word "considering" alone creates confusion. As you may know, Thai airway is in very bad weather. Thai airwais has suffered huge losses for many years, a drastic reorganization is necessary to avoid a complete bankruptcy, etc. Thai airways has asked foreign creditors not to confiscate its aircraft. No one knows yet what the ultimate consequences for Thai airways will be. Ergo: ambiguity unfortunately still reigns supreme. Below are two links that hopefully give you a little more insight into the current situation. Thai airways does not fly directly to Amsterdam. See the 13 international destinations https://www.thaiairways.com/en_TH/plan/where_we_fly/index.page?
Furthermore, for booking flights or obtaining insight into flights that can be booked, see https://flights.thaiairways.com/en/flights-to-amsterdam Flights for August 1, 2020 cannot be booked today, June 13, 2020 (for the time being). You get the message: “something went wrong, etc.”.
If you want to take a closer look at the financial kitchen of Thai airways, see: http://investor.thaiairways.com/en/downloads/annual-report The financial reports of several years can be downloaded here. Hopefully this will provide a little more clarity about the situation Thai airways is in, but it is still unclear / uncertain. If you want to book, I think caution is absolutely necessary.
Thai airways' planes were or still are piloted by pilots from Brussels airlines. What is it with that special travel insurance? I already take out private insurance every year in case something happens. We should not be surprised that it will become more expensive. But if there is first 14 days of quarantine I stay at home, that money is thrown away in 1 month. We see and there are also the Philippines.
