The new Red Line railway line between Bang Sue and Rangsit will open in November next year, government spokesman Anucha Buranachaisri said. The test drives will start in March.

Operated by the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), the Red Line is 21 kilometers long and runs from the new Bang Sue Grand Station to Rangsit in Pathum Thani. The train travels at up to 120 kilometers per hour and the entire journey takes 30 minutes.

At least 270.000 travelers are expected to use the train every day. Bangkok's new main railway station, Bang Sue Grand Station, will also open in November, Anucha says. Construction is almost complete. The new station will be Bangkok's central public transportation hub, connecting multiple lines with inter-provincial trains and buses.

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will inspect construction progress on Tuesday.
