The NCPO (the military government) wants to get rid of the large number of speedboats, an estimated thousand, that are now moored at the Bali Hai pier in Pattaya. The action should improve the touristic image of the city.

Another reason is that the big international boat show will be held in Pattaya next year and there is not much space left at the jetties now.

The chairman of the Pattaya Tourist Boat Association, who is also a member of the Pattaya City Council, agrees with the NCPO. The speedboat owners are less happy. They think that removing the speedboats could actually harm tourism.

The Bali Hai pier covers an area of 17 rai and has been developed as a port area with a deep water zone for commercial ferries and a marina for speedboats. Most speedboats take tourists to Koh Lan, an island off the coast of Pattaya. The passengers are picked up on the northern beach, which causes a lot of inconvenience every morning.

It is unclear where the speedboats should go if they are no longer allowed to dock at the pier. The operators fear that this will lead to cost increases when they have to pick up tourists elsewhere.

Totally agree, death and death is a sin. Can you make a beautiful place. Rutte would say: Get ready (with ALL those boats there. Cleaning, redecorating, beautiful piece of the boulevard. Especially when the marina is open there. Ad.

    Well,

Its 1000 boats, it is with everything in Thailand. Oh, my neighbor starts……… I can do that too.
In no time you will have 100 car tire rental companies on the beach, etc.

They don't really have their own initiative in Thailand and not to mention marketing.

Most just do and build entire buildings illegally and oh, woe, if they have to tear it down.

    Well, this Thailand

    Greetings from a wet Laks-Si.

Perhaps a very good idea to (have) removed some of these speedboats. Many of these boats lie there for weeks / months without ever being sailed. It is not exactly a tourist sight…

The big international boat show will most likely not take place at the Bali Hai pier, because the facilities are lacking, but in the Ocean Marina harbour.

On November 24 – 27, 2016, the annual boat show will be held in the Ocean Marina harbor for the 5th time.

    Thursday November 24:
    -11.00am -19.00pm Exhibition Show Time
    -11.00 – 21.00 Food & drinks Festival
-15.00:16.00 PM -XNUMX:XNUMX PM Opening Ceremony

other dates see announcements in the media

A cost increase and with almost 2500 bth return and that is the rate after much negotiation, it was not really cheap. And if you can no longer board directly from the beach, I think the advantage of these boats is really far away.

It is impossible to follow and believe
Fewer boats fine, you have to drive past the harbor on an evening
What a mess of oil and boats.

But new moorings were made a few years ago
In the beginning it looked beautiful
    if you look now
    Old rust and dilapidated.
There has never been a boat

Don't know how much invested again for decay

    Then you think it's Thailand
