The city of Pattaya strives to reduce the number of beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach. For example, the number of zones where beach chairs are allowed will be reduced.

Sriwisut Ratarun, Vice Chairman of the Pattaya City Council, said the planned zone reductions are aimed at increasing the public areas where tourists can enjoy the beach.

Currently, 118 operators can operate stretches of beach on designated areas that cover about 44 percent of Pattaya's 2.588-meter beach. This area will be reduced.

The reduction also applies to the 5.535 meter long beach of Jomtien. Currently, beach beds are allowed on 44,7 percent of the beach length. The new measure leaves about 2.259 meters for beach chairs.

    So many changes. We'll wait.

If this is really so. As we have also experienced this in Phuket, we will look for another holiday destination.

They just do. I think sun worshipers who come to Pattaya for a beach holiday are already quite lost.

How do I scare away the tourists??? Do they really think I'm going to sit in the sun in 40C without a chair and umbrella ??? Who the hell comes up with that??

If this continues, it will really cost tourists. The somewhat older Europeans don't like to sit on their butts in the sand.

Sure, make it as unattractive as possible for vacationers to go to the beach.
The number of tourists is already declining considerably and this can also be added.
That is why many tourists move to other countries where people do not make such a fuss!
Had already heard through acquaintances that it is no longer allowed to drink beer on the beach and that
meals can no longer be ordered?
I don't know if the latter is indeed correct, but hope to hear it through this site.

You can still enjoy your beer and meals in peace.

Don't be fooled by the well-known “acquaintance circuit!”

For the entrepreneurs it will not make much difference at the moment if fewer sun loungers are placed
may become. The beaches look very deserted at the moment. So plenty of room for the newcomers!
Even in the "high season" there is still enough space! Especially if you visit the Jomtienbeach further on.

Can we enjoy even more parts of the beach that are not kept clean !

If only they maintained the beach better, with all the filth, stay in Koh Samui now, what a difference.
I also immediately noticed the air quality. Getting out of Pattaya can do you good.

Last February we stayed for 14 days at the Pinnacle Grand Jomtien Resort -Najomtien and the
beach - separate from all washed up rubbish such as plastic etc. a large 'butt bin' = dirty and dirty! The hotel never cleaned the beach during the time we were there.

I hear from my Thai wife that some chair rental companies have paid hundreds of thousands of baht to take over such a company.
Strange of course, because the beach is not private property. As far as I know, the municipality has not awarded any concessions.
That's why I'm very curious which owner can stay and which owner has lost his investment and livelihood (rice production?). Is there “special money” involved?

Someone above says that a sun worshiper who has chosen Pattaya has lost his way.
    I totally agree with that.
There are so many beautiful, clean beaches in Thailand. Then why do you go to Pattaya, which has a completely different destination?
Isn't it illogical to demand that people keep the beach there?

U-tapao, the airport near Pattaya is being expanded to handle more travelers. More and more hotels are being built in Jomtien. But the hoped-for increase of guests will have to make do with fewer beach chairs and can enjoy the sun without a parasol on a towel. Guarantees work for the dermatologist in the future. Oh yes, shopping malls are popping up like mushrooms in Pattaya; the tourist can spend his time there. Because of the air conditioning it can be chilly there so you have to dress accordingly. Curious what measures the board of Pattaya has in store to kill tourism.

There will be little privacy left if operators put the same number of chairs and tables in less space. Many are already staying away and that will only increase. And you hardly see new elderly people (snowbirds or even permanent ones) appearing. The beach becomes only for Thais again. Time to close things up in Jomtien (if there are any buyers?) and move to the Rayong area or near Trat.

we stayed in the Novotel in Rayong last January, but there too the hotel only had 6 umbrellas and beds along the edge of the hotel on the beach and that was very early towel laying, the rest of the hotel guests were around the beautiful swimming pool. A little further on at Kim's were beds and umbrellas (demolition)
We walked along the beach to the Mariott hotel and there were also few beds. -the advantage of a luxury beach hotel is the swimming pool that you can use.

I personally don't know Pattaya Beach because I still haven't been there, but I understand from articles on Thailandblog that the beach there would be expanded by quite a few meters? Only there was something about the sand quality that they had a bit of a delay. Then there will be quite a lot of space to meet all the wishes of Western beach hangers, Thai people who sit in clothes and me as a beach walker, right?

You have remembered that very well, but such messages should always be taken with a grain of salt.
The 'beach' here is a sandy path that slopes 10 degrees. If you want to make it 3 meters wider over 30 kilometres, it will benefit the entire Dutch dredging industry from a multi-year project.
