An 88-year-old Dutchman died on Wednesday morning on board a Qatar Airways plane from Doha to Phuket. The man has been identified as Jean Gustave Gruter (transcript from Thai).

Authorities at Phuket airport were informed by the captain during the flight that a passenger had been found unconscious in a toilet room. Immediately after landing, Mr. Gruter was taken by ambulance to Thalang Hospital, where it was unfortunately found that he had already passed away.

Relatives and friends who traveled with Mr. Gruter also joined the hospital to provide information. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. During a first inspection, no traces of violence were found and it is suspected that Mr. Gruter died of a chronic old-age ailment.

88 years? Well, that's what I'm signing for….Seems to me that this person just died of old age. You don't always just die at home or in a hospital.

Hope when I reach this age, I still have the courage to travel and still have a lot of fun.

88 is a blessed age and I really want to send my condolences to friends and family.
I myself go for the 100 on the one hand to enjoy Thailand and on the other hand to pay taxes and old age pension because they have done that enthusiastically with me.

My condolences to the family and strength
