No EU ban on Thai aviation

December 11 2015

The bullet is through the church, the EU is not banning Thai aviation. This was to relieve the Thai government, which feared a ban on flying to Europe, which could be the death blow for the ailing Thai Airways International (Thai).

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) announced yesterday that THAI and MJets, the only Thai airlines flying to Europe, will not be banned from flying. That chance was present after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) demoted Thailand on its flight safety list. Six months ago, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) also issued a red flag to Thai aviation.

Shortly after the announcement, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said EASA was understanding of the country's efforts to address the issues. According to him, the Thai authorities have put a lot of effort into the master plan that EASA wanted to see in the past three weeks. Thailand has also signed an agreement with EASA. It has been agreed that the European agency will assist Thailand in upgrading civil aviation so that it meets international standards again.

Phew…..and yes many will think that who had already bought a ticket.

Good to hear it didn't get that far. The economy is already pretty distressed so this couldn't have been added. It is important that maintenance etc. is now really maintained and takes place and that the international standard is continuously met.

I don't get it very well, I only fly with Thai because I think it's a very good company, nice spacious seats, super service, if they see that you like the wine, they will bring you a new glass etc.
Let them be a bit more expensive than others, but I'm happy to pay for it.

Nice to hear that you like flying with Thai so much, but you don't understand it very well, you say.

However, I wonder to what extent the seat space, super service and an extra glass of wine during the flight play a role in whether or not the EU bans a company.

The more spacious and more wine the more satisfied the travelers and the less need for a ban perhaps?

Maybe you'll understand better if you crash with a nice glass of wine in hand

What interests me now a glass of wine, flying must be safe.
