Flemings who live in Thailand or elsewhere abroad will soon no longer be able to do so via satellite television. From July 1, the VRT will stop cooperation with the satellite channel BVN.

BVN has been broadcasting VRT and NPO programs via satellite for over 10 years. With this, the channel mainly targets travellers, expats and Dutch speakers who do not live in Belgium or the Netherlands. Several hundred thousand expats watch BVN.

The Belgian minister of media, Benjamin Dalle (CD&V), believes that broadcasting via satellite is outdated, now that there are sufficient alternatives. That is why it was decided in 2020 not to extend the cooperation agreement BVN, The Best of Flanders and the Netherlands. Belgians abroad can keep up to date with the news from Belgium via digital channels such as VRT NU, VRT NWS and the VRT radio apps.

In the coming months, the cooperation between the VRT and BVN will be phased out. From 1 July, the channel will only offer programs from the Dutch Public Broadcasting. The name BVN then refers to 'The Best of NPO'.

Flemings who live in Thailand or elsewhere abroad and who like to follow VRT broadcasts via satellite can do so via TV Vlaanderen in the future.

How can one continue to follow “Blocks” and “Home” ?

As stated in the message: via VRT NU

You forget to mention that BVN no longer broadcasts via satellite asia as of July 1, so we can no longer receive BVN from that date, due to the fact that the costs for this are now still shared between VRT and NPO.
The Netherlands does not want to bear the costs alone, which is why in the future only satellites that go to the Dutch overseas territories will be paid for.

Looking on the internet are unfortunate times I think.

How so? At vrt now you can watch whenever you want. Sometimes I'm a few days behind on HOME, but that doesn't matter. You can always look back. Via BVN you are a few days behind anyway

I tried to register, but if you fill in thailand, it says red print that this is not possible.

Just take euro TV super good.

Dale is right. With a VPN you can watch most programs directly or indirectly.

Whether a VPN works for VRT NU is entirely questionable.
      Nowadays a proxy is recognized.

For some time now, verification with a mobile Belgian telephone number has been requested. Then someone can at least look within the EU. I'd like to hear if that also works in Thailand.

I have installed the vrt and vtm app in Europe. No problem now

For sale: not too long used new dish that was purchased especially for Asiasat 😉
It is progress and will mean that Flemish people in TH will watch Flemish TV again and the Dutch will watch the wide range of NL TV. Will we or I end up in a new bubble again because I don't have time to go through the entire range and look for what I think I will like. In my opinion, unwanted media therefore has a certain added value in continuing to make multiple voices heard for all residents outside the two countries. The people affected are more or less excluded from simple information provision from the mother country, such as how to handle elections, and they have to work with VPN and internet subscriptions with the question of whether the speeds are sufficient to watch TV normally. The Flemish gave the start and the Dutch finished it to show who is still taken seriously in which region of the world where nationals reside.

      do not panic!

You have an internet connection, otherwise you wouldn't be able to write messages here.

install the app or go to the VRT NU or VTMGO site and you can watch a number of programs.

Advantage, you see your programs when you want.

Disadvantage; you cannot watch all programs. There are programs that can only be viewed in Europe.

You don't have to wait until all other programs have passed to watch your favorite show.

By the way, for live sports broadcasts you can use a stream such as CYFO, Hesgoal and others

      Enjoy watching!

See BVN.COM/missed broadcast every day via npo, excellent programs and very interesting, the offer is exclusively with Dutch subjects. Just see this via the Internet, assume that this will remain the case?

hello,,,,, that's all well and good, but the people who stay there for a longer period of time in, for example, a rental house or room without,, or where no cable is provided and can only receive the very, very poor WiFi, what is the these people the solution?

    • Nicky says up

And whether you rent or not, you can install the internet anywhere. With 3 BB even free

I didn't know any better in the past and I was really annoyed by that BVN. Almost nothing other than talk shows where the Dutch panel members chattered at each other. As if that was the best that Flemish and Dutch TV had to offer. To my great satisfaction, I purchased Euro NL TV with a wide range of channels. Ales can be viewed up to 2 weeks ago. I don't want to miss it anymore!
