Fire destroys boxing stadium in Pattaya
The Max Muay Thai Stadium Pattaya has been largely destroyed by a raging fire. The damage is estimated at 200 million baht.
The fire raged at Sukhumvit-Pattaya Soi 42 in Pattaya Klang on Thursday evening. Police say the fire started at the rear of the building. Explosions were also heard. After about an hour, firefighters had the fire under control.
The building is badly damaged and must be considered lost. At least four people were slightly injured.
An investigation shows that the fire probably started after technical employees had topped up the coolant of the air conditioning. After a while an explosion was heard in the compressor causing a fire.
